Happy First Day Of Spring

Monday, March 20, 2017

The first day of Spring is not quite the same in the desert of the southwest as it was in the frozen north. Here it seems more like summer, the kind we had maybe for one week in July, then spring.

In the Upper Peninsula of Michigan it brought the hope of the first rain that would wash away the dirt and salt left behind from the melted snowbanks. It was a time of looking forward to the first day the temperature would hit at least 50 degrees, so I could turn the heat way down and open the windows to let in the beautiful smells of spring. We would be watching for the first crocus making there way out into the sunlight to be followed by the tulips then the daffodils. All the while hoping there would not be that one more snow storm.

Today, we looked out over a beautiful green desert and enjoyed the change of season. Knowing different is not good or bad it is just different and does not lesson the enjoyment that we have moving into a new season. Spring still feels like a time of renewal.

I decided the best way to celebrate Spring would be to take pictures of what is flowering around our home in the desert. So I took a walk and did just that.

So ended another wonderful day!

Hope you had a wonderful day!
If you have a moment, leave a comment we would love hearing from you.

  1. Beautiful, Deb. Thank you for the pictures especially the ocotillo. I am borrowing that picture to share with a friend of mine from Bullhead City who will miss them blooming. I hope you don't mind. Enjoy your travels!
