Unplanned Ride

 Friday, December 12, 2025

The sun came up on another wonderful day in Quartzsite, Arizona and we enjoyed our coffee letting the day slowly unfold. Tom had one errand he went off to take care of. When he got back I took off to pick up an Amazon Order and make a quick stop at Coyote Fresh Foods. After that, even though it was mid-afternoon, we decided to take a ride one exit to the west of here and do a little exploring. The pictures below are of that short ride.

As we pulled out onto Riggles Avenue I noticed this Sundog.

This ride and views are north of I-10 across the way to the south is the Dome Rock BLM area. We had never been back in this area and it is quite beautiful back there. I am sure we will head that way again. One FYI: there are a lot of mining claims in this area. I will mostly let the views speak for themselves.

We did venture down this road today.

Not to far and we came upon what is left of this building along
a wash. Checking later Tom found out it was the Cruikshank Cabin.

Tom coming back from checking out a sign he spotted.

Today's sunset picture, just a little early...🌞

Heading back the way we came, to the left is the Palm Canyon
area in the Kofa Mountains way off in the distance.

Little white dots in the distance of all the RV's already here.

We were heading back on Dome Rock Road West
when I spotted the Sleeping Indian.

It was a short ride but, like I mentioned above, the views are beautiful. When we got back we decided to sit out and enjoy what was still a warm evening. Then we saw Patsy out on the road taking pictures to the west of us. I could see pink behind her so I figured I better get up and check out what she was taking pictures of.

Patsy checking out and snapping pictures
of the sky turning a beautiful bright orange.

This is what she saw and I am glad I joined her on the road.
It was a bright orange afterglow.

It was another good day to be lived and enjoyed. Sometimes an unplanned last minute decision to do something works out wonderfully and today's did.

If you have enjoyed the pictures I have put out there
or the words I have added that makes me smile.
If you have time to leave a comment they are always special to read.
No matter what I am glad you stopped by!

  1. Looks like another nice ride.
I saw the sundog too but not sure where my picture went.
Can you tell I was frustrated with my camera in that picture? Every so often it says 'camera failed' and that was one of those times I had to wait for it to work. Lol
    Beautiful sky.

    1. I would not like that message, camera failed, at all. It was a nice chat and if you had not come out I probably would have missed the lovely colorful sky. So Thank You.

    1. That cabin was a neat find. I cannot believe I just used the word neat...😊 Did I just travel back to the 60's? Okay, we are officially losing it. I just read this to Tom and he said, well it was a swell ride...LOL
