So today we reread the article. first.....well done in explaining your deepest feelings. Second.....I have to agree, sadly, that you are so correct in your observations and analysis of the total disrespect for others opinions and/or actions. Those of us of a certain age will remember the respect we showed our teachers, clergy, neighbors, and yes.....even politicians. What in the world has happened to our society? Lastly.....we have been so pleasantly surprised at the wonderful friendships that have grown out of our RV travels. Folks from all walks of life, from all parts of the continent, we all seem to get along so well. Maybe it's because we share a common love of RV travel but I like to think maybe we are a microcosm of society and could teach others how to behave. Maybe everyone should try RV'ing for a while. On the other hand, we do tend to follow the unwritten rules of avoiding the three "do not discuss" topics of politics, religion, or sex at our happy hour discussions. Actually maybe if we could remember to take notes at happy hour we could solve a lot of the worlds problems!!
Take care you guys. Safe travels and hope you get those hugs soon.
Hugs from Cheryl and I. A long post I was glad to read, as sometimes I feel like the Lone Ranger on the issue of consideration and respect for others when there is disagreement. So much stridency in the air! And vituperation. Anyway, thanks.JudithKhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00624192907254384403noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3847538540249587575.post-71594643116243141312020-05-28T17:33:00.411-07:002020-05-28T17:33:00.411-07:00Tom and Deb thank you for documenting your thought...Tom and Deb thank you for documenting your thoughts and feelings. I have those same concerns and fears but I can't put them in writing. I just hope we get past our leaders insinuating the only good Democrat is a dead Democrat. As you have said we should respect differences of opinion, not try to silence it. Also, for times that people's behavior makes it clear they refuse to be at peace and choose to speak/act as an enemy,we should forgive,& pray for them.
The United States was founded on Christian principles, may we treat each other as if those are important enough to consider, rather than fueling the divisive fires of hot tempered folks(that seem not know how destructive their vitriolic voices are).
Stay well, -MaryAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3847538540249587575.post-75712895292703397842020-05-28T15:36:22.461-07:002020-05-28T15:36:22.461-07:00Pretty much my thoughts too. Friends calling people names because of their opinion is just not cool. The disrespect for the President is beyond belief. Those that wish death and destruction on others will have to deal with God. Wow you really hit the nail on the head! ...Hi Deb! Wow you really hit the nail on the head! I can relate to what you wrote. In fact we have been put down when someone asked our opinion and they didn't like our opinion. It was ok for them to discuss what they liked but if we didn't agree with them they wanted nothing more to do with us. Not very nice and friendly! So we decided to not discuss certain subjects when visiting with others or insist that our opinion has nothing to do with our relationship as a friend. It is such a bad thing that is happening around the world and scary as well. I am one person of many who has a compromised immune system and must be very careful. So I wear a mask and so does Rick because he doesn't want to catch this and bring it back to me. He grocery shops from a list I give him and wears a mask and gloves. If he catches it I will be in big trouble. I loved how you poured your feelings out and spoke from your heart. You and your family have always been our friends and are entitled to have your own thoughts and opinions. I would never put any friend down for their own opinion even if mine is different from theirs. We all have a right to our opinions. I hope this world gets back to some kind of normal soon. I want to cry at the number of people that have passed away. I pray that soon things will change. I too miss hugging our Grandchildren and even our grown kids. I think that is the one thing we miss the most. The second is being and talking to our friends in person. We are all so sheltered right now and it does affect our mood and thinking. May God Bless us all and keep us safe. Hope to see you both when this is over sometime down the road. Be safe and well and try not to worry. The best we can do now is take care of those we love and pray for a better worldKathy Rousseauhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18050668870468332229noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3847538540249587575.post-42475275411769251902020-05-28T07:40:25.390-07:002020-05-28T07:40:25.390-07:00Hey! I can tell you have put a lot of random thoughts into this post and you are 100% of the right and capability to do so. In my opinion, that is also part of why we write blogs. It is our words, our voice, our thoughts and truly 'our' opinions and no one should be judging us on that.
I like that we're all different, we have to be or how boring it would be! I'm glad you are both safe and well and soon you will be back on home turf.
Stay safe and may God bless! xoPatsy Irene (Chillin' with Patsy)https://www.blogger.com/profile/17023685247825134744noreply@blogger.com
