Yes, I am doing some catching up.

First of all we would like to offer a toast to all our friends and family.
May 2015 be a great year for each and every one of you.
May it be filled with love, joy, health, laughter and new adventures.

While reading about some of the State Parks near Mustang Island we found out there was a tree at the Goose Island State park over 1,000 years old called the Big Tree. You know we had to go and see it. So that is what we did on a misty rainy New Year's Day.

This was the bridge over Copano Bay on our way to the "Big Tree". It always makes me nervous when they are building a new bridge next to the one I am on. Is there a time limit before the old one falls into the bay? The mission today is to the see the "Big Tree" so we held our breaths and kept going.

Information from sign in front of tree:  The Big Tree is a coastal live oak and is one of the largest of its kind. It was named the Texas State Champion live oak in 1966.
               
By the numbers: 11 feet across the trunk
                            35 feet around
                            44 feet tall
                            89 feet across the crown
                            1,000 years old
