Travel Days from Casa Grande, Arizona to Alamogordo, New Mexico (A Catch-Up Post)

Sunday, April 3, 2022

Today after five nights here at the High Chaparral RV Park we continue our slow trek east. We have enjoyed our time here and will be back to do some more exploring. We have added the Casa Grande Ruins to our bucket list along with a ride up Mt. Lemmon.

Up for the sunrise this morning.
When you crop a picture enough
you can get rid of other rigs in a RV Park.

Merging onto I-10 and the trek east continues.

Picacho Peak

Saguaros near Picacho Peak

the last we will see of them this year.

They always look so majestic.

Cholla Cactus

We passed by a lot of these yellow wildflowers today.

Arizona knows how to decorate their over passes.

Going by Tucson.

A barrel cactus and looks like a Teddy Bear Cholla

Prickly Pear Cactus

Benson in the distance.

Driving into the Texas Canyon

the balance of these rocks is amazing.

We have been by here several times over

these 8 Adventures and I still get a thrill

seeing the beauty of these rocks

each and every time.

We stopped at the rest area for lunch and then I took a short walk

to capture these three pictures. I will miss looking out and
seeing the mountains in the distance.

The rocks across the way reflected on the Stinger "B".

I thought this trailer was beautifully done.

We have crossed into New Mexico.

I was watching for this sign for miles the minute
I turned away I almost missed it.

We stopped for the night at the Walmart in Deming, New Mexico,

Continuing our eastern trek the beauty of the desert
is still in our sight as we ride along.

Las Cruces is in the distance.

We stopped for an early lunch today
at the Roadrunner Scenic Overlook.

As Tom was merging us back onto I-10 I was able
to get one last picture from below the hill.

We are now on I-25 heading north for a couple of miles.

Then we turned on to US-70 and are again going east.

The road ahead and yes we are going towards
The San Andres Mountains.

San Augustin Pass
Elevation 5719

Then we are going down the other side

and the views

go on forever.

Our route takes us past the White Sands National Park.
Some of the white sand has drifted out along the highway.

We slip through what will be our last Border Patrol
Check Point this year. The light was green and no stopping.

Settled into our site at the Mountain View RV in Tularosa

we are sitting out enjoy Happy Hour and we had these
two visitors drop by.

Technically there is a mountain view. All I had to do was go
to the end of our site and look east to view the
 Sierra Blanca Mountains.

Two days of driving and we arrived at the Mountain View RV Park. Tomorrow we will visit the White Sands National Park. Visiting this park has been on our bucket list for a while and tomorrow is the day to make that visit a reality.

We are glad you stopped by!
If you have time to leave a comment we would enjoy hearing from you.

  2. I think this is one of my favorite sections to drive. I love the desert more if there are a few mountains around.
