It Was Time to Move On

The plan when we parked in out on Ogilby was to stay until it was time to dump tanks the second time and then we would move up by Quartzsite. When it was time to dump again, like so many times during this journey, the plan changed and we decided to come right back to where we were. With good neighbors and, except for when it was windy, decent weather we thought why move. On Sunday we knew it was time to move on. We thought about waiting until we needed to dump tanks again but Tom checked our propane level and knew that would soon be an issue. Cathy and Shane had decided to move on, on Monday and we decided to do the same. Doug and Yuma decided to stay put a little longer. We would be making our way to Quartzsite leaving behind the quite of this place. Heading north on Ogilby Road we soon turned right onto CA-78 which brought us to I-10 were we headed east. Our first stop was for propane and the second stop for diesel. That done we made our way out to Roadrunner BLM to spend a couple of nights. We are now in Brenda, AZ at the 3 Dreamers RV Park to get caught up on wash and sweep out some of the desert dust. More on that decision in the next blog. For now as always I am catching up.

The Tent is up.

As we headed over to the rest stop to get rid of garbage we noticed a distinct lack of ATVer's in the Fee Area. I do not think we have ever seen the area this empty. Especially on a weekend.

We pulled off the road about half way.
This is looking north

We could see a few in the distance looking west.

Heading back down Ogilby Road we decided to take a
ride towards the Cargo Muchacho Mountains.

Off in the distance we could see
what is a large hill of tailings.

Can you see the face?
Tom said, it is not real clear but I see a puppy face.

Getting closer to the hill we could see a pattern
that we would guess water created in the hill of tailings.
Reminded me of a mosaic or quilt.

This was as far as we could take the Jeep. If the ride had
been planned I would have had better shoes on so we could
have walked closer. Slip on sandals would not be idea.

Our view of the Cargo Muchacho Mountains back home.

The sun setting on our day.

It becomes a tiny dot then disappears.

After dropping out of site the last of the suns light provided

us with a wonderful afterglow over the mountains.

Then we had a wonderful show to the west.

We drove over to a Walmart in Yuma to pick up a curbside order then took a short ride in some of the agricultural area in the Winterhaven, CA area. Okay to be honest we took a wrong turn still it was a nice ride.

Honestly I never thought I would see these types of messages.

The irrigation system in the fields is something.
We have seen them picking up the system and
driven by as they are laying out the pipes in a field.

Our guess is this irrigation system of piping is moved
from field to field as needed.

This is the first time we have seen these guys in a field.

We could also see sticks with colorful shiny ribbons on them.

We received an outdated item in our order on Saturday from Walmart. So we headed back to have that exchanged on Sunday. I would note here we have been doing curbside at Walmart pretty much since last April in various states and for the most part have been happy with the results. We have only had maybe five items we were not happy with and all five times Walmart has gone good for it. Including one time when I called about not receiving an item and the refund came through on our card. The best part not standing in that line at the checkout.

Heading back home we decided to take the frontage road

to ride by the town of Felicity.

Great to see the stairway still there.
This was part of the Eiffel Tower.

We visited the Center of the World in February of 2018.

We stood at the center in the above pyramid
and have the certificates to prove it.
Click here if you would like to learn a little about what is there.

Happy Hour conversation was great
and the sunset was setting behind the clouds.

The group includes Cathy, Shane, Doug, Yuma, Tom and I.

Then we had a burst of color

and a lovely rose color over the mountains.

Our neighborhood in the twilight.

The last of the light leaving our last day here for now.
It has been a wonderful place to be with friends.

Color before the sun came up

on our day.

Cathy and Shane hooked up and ready to leave.

Doug and Yuma walked over and we had a quick chat
then pictures. Left to right: Doug, Tom or Deb,
Shane and Cathy.

After a few hugs and a see you down the road we
watched them drive off in a cloud of dust.

A while later we were hooked up and ready to leave.
Yuma was saying goodbye and got distracted.

Doug getting a picture of us pulling out.

This next set of pictures is of our ride and the windshield is dirty. They do not look to bad this size though. ๐Ÿ˜Š By the time I decided to just take the pictures even through the streaks we were on CA-78.

Not long before we reach I-10 we are going through
an agricultural area.

Part of the canal system

that delivers the water to the fields of vegetables.

Heading east we are on I-10

and back in Saguaro Country.
It is hard to see in this picture but they are on those mountains.

One picture through a freshly cleaned windshield.
There are rock shows open.

Parked out at Roadrunner for a couple of nights.
The sun is setting on our day.

Saying goodnight to the day's light.

It was an uneventful trip here today and that is always a good thing. Before the sun went down I took a picture of the Jeep and the Stinger "B". We drove back to where we usually park out here and found there was a Rally parked in the area. So we drove back out near the front area. As you can see it is just a little dusty.

We are glad you stopped by!
If you have time to leave a comment we would enjoy hearing from you.

  2. It's funny how you just know when to stay in a spot and when its time to leave :) Enjoy your hook-up time, it's always nice to get laundry and housework done before heading back out to the desert.

    1. That layer of dust is gone and the Stinger "B' is ready to receive the new layer...๐ŸŒž I know it is a losing battle but it always feels better for having tried.

  3. Nice pictures. Dusty or not we miss being there.
Wayne and Sue are parked where they always are in La Posa South.
Looking forward to your next update.

    1. As you know the dust is just part of enjoying the desert. Though it does feel good to get rid of a layer if only for a short time. Take care.

  4. My timing is all wrong ... I'm missing everyone. When I came through Q I didn't see much of anyone. I have heard a couple of rallies are planning on being there. The Big Tent won't be so big this year. It's a good thing Arizona decided to keep things open.

    1. Our timing is obviously off, also.
From what we could see before we left there are several Rallies taking place and RV's were coming in pretty steady. Though we are sure the numbers are down. We will be back that way mid week it will be interesting to see how the traffic is.

  5. Nice catch up Deb! You know my hubby he'd have left after five days if that long LOL. Had to look up Brenda AZ to see where you are. Nice! Your Jeep looks like our cars living here in the desert! Beautiful pictures! The road sign is one reason we're in no hurry to leave :(

    1. Yes, that is one thing we know about Ken. My spin is he likes to keep exploring new places๐Ÿ˜Š.
Basically we are in the middle of no where with full hookups. No...no...you need to ignore the signs and come south we miss you guys.
Seriously, we see them all the time including the ones on wheels warning us about this or that; who ever would have thought. Stay safe...hugs

  6. How nice the area looks, but that dust would put Benno right off and he'd be outa there. That was also a problem when we stayed at Pilot Knob and the spot we got assigned was way too dusty for our likes. Miss the mountains and the nice sunsets!

    1. The dust seems a little worse this year. We are not fans of the dust either but we are willing to deal because we truly love parking out in the desert. There are days though when it gets a little much.

  7. Lots of great pictures. Lots of activity while in the Yuma area and for the most part nice, sunny and warm. Enjoy your respite from the dust.

    1. Thank you.
Not sure we have actually escaped the dust completely. It is just a little less in the park because everyone keeps their speed down.
