The Second Day of Summer

Thursday, June 22, 2017

I took a walk outside before lunch and took the pictures below of the beautiful blue sky with these white wispy clouds floating by.

Some of the flowers Tom has planted around the yard.

I had lunch and before I could get the above pictures added and the blog posted the clouds pictured below moved in. Looks like the 44% chance of rain predicted for today is going to happen. Tom is presently outside cutting grass I feel like he is fighting a losing battle this summer.

On the bright side because of all the rain we have not been able to have gravel delivered to move the Stinger B on to...sooooo we are saving money. I guess the quote that would work well here is: "Every Cloud has a Silver Lining".

Today was the perfect first day of summer. We had a beautiful blue, blue sky all day. The clouds showed up on the horizon as the sun was setting on the longest day of the year.

The Escanaba Harbor Light.

The sun dropped behind the clouds on the horizon as
I took the picture of the Harbor Light.

Last little bit of light.

HELLO SUMMER!

Hope the summer sun is shining down on you today!

If you have a moment we would enjoy hearing from you.

Clouds

Thursday, June 15, 2017

Today would have been my Dad's 98th birthday and there are times it hardly seems possible that he has been gone for 15 years.

This is our maple in the back yard
green and full. I remember when my
Dad planted it over 50 years ago.

The clouds were glowing as the sunset this evening.

The rain is with us most days and most days without fail we
at least see some blue sky before the sun sets.
The picture on the left was taken at a restaurant out on the
Garden Peninsula. We spent a lovely evening enjoying good
food and the company of our next door neighbors.

On June 19, 2010 this little man made Tom and I grandparents for the 1st time.
Where did the time go?
Happy 7th Birthday, Noah! We love you forever and always.

Noah Thomas

Pink clouds as the sun was setting.

Decided to take a walk around the yard. With all the rain every
thing is a beautiful green. The climbing roses above and on the
right have come back. Two summers ago we thought we had
lost them to the winter cold the year before. Last year we had
some green but this year they are really looking good.

Some of the plants around our walkways.

The reason the Stinger B is still parked
in the driveway. We had planned on
putting new gravel in this area and
moving it over but it with all the rain
it is not looking promising.

It was an interesting day weather wise. It seemed like one minute we had blue skies and white fluffy clouds and the next dark storm clouds. Then one direction would be a beautiful blue and the opposite dark and ominous. All of sudden there would be a downpour and the next minute the sun was out.

Have I mentioned I love clouds. The white fluffy ones against the blue sky that continuously change shape as they float by.  The ones that turn the sky pink or orange at sunset bringing breath taking color to the end of the day. The dark, dark storm clouds as they creep across the sky ominous yet strangely fascinating. Every shape and every color they are all beautiful.

Days are Going By

Tuesday, June 13, 2017

Hello, just checking in to see what is going on in the blogging world and to let you know we are still around.

We have been seeing blue skies which is encouraging and we even had some temperatures in the high 70's.

A beautiful blue sky this past
Saturday.

Saturday, our daughter had us over for dinner. She made
chicken and steak fajitas, her first attempt, and it was quite
a success. It was a delicious meal and getting
to take leftovers home was a definite plus.

Interesting cloud formation and color after the sun had set on Saturday evening. We were in the parking lot at Family Video when I noticed the sky off to the west. We have decided not to hook up to cable this summer and we still are not sure we want to do the whole satellite/dish thing. We have had pretty good luck with our antennae in the motorhome when we are on the road, so movie rentals it is for the time being.

Took a quick ride out past the street lights
and caught the end of the light.

Sunday brought a new day with wind and later on rain.  Lots and lots of rain and wind. We had two really good downpours.

Took this picture down at the beach looking across
the bay towards the Stonington Peninsula.

Last night's sunset lit up the sky. I went out on our front porch in time to catch some of the color.

The time seems to be going by quickly and we are not getting as much done as quickly as we would like. Tom had bronchitis this past week so that did slow things down a bit. He is back to feeling better so tomorrow we will back at it and we will see what the next few weeks bring.

Hope everyone reading this is having a wonderful June and spending time with those they love.

Time Goes By

(Clicking on the pictures will open them larger in a new window.)

Tuesday, June 6, 2017

Today our son, Thomas, turns 33 not sure how that happened seems like only yesterday we were standing in the International Terminal at Chicago's O'Hare Airport looking down through the glass at a tiny 3 month old bundle. Now he has a beautiful wife, Nadine, and three little bundles of his own. Time does fly.

Happy Birthday, Thomas!

The dandelions are just about done.

Lilacs in our back yard.

Our granddaughter, Charlotte, brought
me these the other day from a bush
where they live.

Our granddaughter, Charlotte's, spring recital. There was no need
for an arrow to point to her. She is the one on the right all by
herself. Her mom does not know why the teacher did not have her
move in closer but she was just over there singing and dancing
away, as were the other kids, but she was having a ball.

I was holding Adelaide, our youngest grandchild, who is
10 months old a couple of days ago and took this picture.
I was sitting there enjoying the moment.
Over the last seven years I have held each of our grandchildren
as they slept and savored every moment.
I remember holding our son and daughter and as I sat
there I kept thinking about how fast the time has gone by
between this age and 33 and 31.

Took a ride down by the water yesterday. There was good breeze
and when I got out of the Jeep I could see the seagulls floating
in the wind.

Below is information about a restored light house here in Escanaba. It is open for tours in the summer months. They also have special events during the holidays. I toured this on field trips with our children along with a museum next door. Tom and I were just saying we need to take the time and take the older grandkids for a tour.

Crib Light

The waves were coming in pretty good along the shore and
I could feel the spray as I walked along.

I do miss Super One it was our go to supermarket.
Closed while we were gone on our "Third Adventure".
