Fun N Sun Mobile Home and RV Park

Today we did wash. Tom took two loads to the laundry, jackets and jeans, and I did four loads here in the RV. We are caught up again. Always nice to have everything folded and put away.

Tomorrow we are moving over to some nearby BLM land and we will be dry camping for a few nights. We are also planning on visiting the Valley of Fire State Park in the next couple of days. Other then that relaxing is on the agenda.

We enjoyed a wonderful day parked in this spot. The sun was out but with the wind it was a little to chilly to be sitting outside. Though sitting next to the window in the sun was toasty warm. Looks like we may have some sitting out weather in the next couple of days. So we are both looking forward to that. If not, inside relaxing with sun light streaming through the windows will work.

Today's good news it looks like we have a Plan B worked out and we will be spending some time with Shirley and Ken next week. Yeah for Plan B.

Washington, Utah to Overton, Nevada

Tom turned the Stinger "B's" wheel sharply left and smoothly swung out from where we were parked and we were on our way to Nevada.

When we pulled in Tom left three spaces between us and
the next vehicle in front of us. The person driving the black 
vehicle decided that was two to many spaces.

Merging, merging, and we are on I-15.

Driving by St. George, Utah 
we continue heading south and west.

The signs say, no oversize vehicles  on I-15 in Arizona.
We saw these signs twice while we were on I-15 in Utah.
(Curious I googled why. The answer is 8 pictures down.)

Traveling on I-15 from Utah to Nevada you cross
through the north west corner of Arizona.

For approximately 29 miles you are in Arizona.
During most of that ride you are going through the
Virgin River Gorge.

The views through this gorge are breathtaking.

We went over this river several times.

I read that is section of I-15, through the Virgin River Gorge,
is one of the most expensive parts
of interstate highway ever constructed.

Then there is a three mile stretch of construction and the
 road narrowed considerably when going over two of the
three bridge decks that are being worked on. Vehicles over
10 feet wide are required  to take a 224 mile detour while
this construction is taking place.

and we are out in the open and on flat ground.

We stopped for diesel and saw our first palm trees
on this adventure.

I missed the Nevada sign but I did get a picture
of two casinos just after we passed the border
into Nevada. So we know we made it across the border.

We are on a 6% downgrade.
The little green rectangle you see that is our exit.

 NV-169  is a two lane highway that led us  Overton , NV
were we will spend......you know what we do not
know how much time we will spend here.
We will find out when we leave.

It was a good travel day. The sky was a beautiful blue and the sun shining through the windshield kept us wonderfully warm. The ride through the Virgin River Gorge was hair raising and breathtaking all at the same time. We are now at the Fun N Sun Mobile Home RV Park for a couple of days and after that we will figure it out. This is a nice park, from what we can tell mostly seasonal and permanent residence, large sites and everything looks well taken care of and clean.

Draper to Washington, Utah

Monday, October 28, 2019 (continued) 

When I finished the blog yesterday we were stopped at a rest area for a late lunch and at the time we thought we would be stopping in St. George, Utah for the night. Looking ahead the temperatures did not look to bad so we decided to stop at a Walmart for the night. I called the one in St. George first and there is a city ordinance in place that does not allow overnight parking in their parking lot. Though the women did tell me there was a frontage road out to the left where we could park and the city could not stop us. I thanked her and called the Walmart in Washington, Utah; no problem for one night. At last count there are 11 other RV's here tonight.

Today's drive was totally on I-15 going south.

Interestingly we saw more snow after we had traveled
a few miles south. We were past  Provo at this point.

We stopped for diesel and Tom very nicely cleaned the window.
No more long streaks...yeah.

The following two collages were taken throughout the ride today and I just combined them in no particular order. With the blue skies and sunshine the golden grass in the fields was glowing. It was like looking at sunshine coming up from the ground. I just love how beautiful it is to look over a field and see the golden yellow glow.

This is the second vehicle we have passed this adventure.
I missed the first one. We very seldom pass anyone so
it is an event. Plus, we were going up hill.

We had never seen triple trailers before crossing into Utah.

The sign said, Tower Road and then I noticed the tower on the left.

times today but again the Stinger "B" just climbed
in her lane like a pro.

A little color over the Walmart parking lot

Getting up this morning it was a little chilly at 28 degrees. The sun is shining and with our blue flame heater we are warm inside. We are getting ready to head further south and west this morning. With only a couple of hours of driving to reach our destination Valley of Fire State Park, plus, with gaining an hour no really big rush. We can enjoy our coffee.

 space for Tom to swing us out. Hopefully it works otherwise
we will be unhooking the Jeep so Tom can back us up to get
the Stinger "B" out of here. Fingers crossed.

Still in Draper, Utah

Today ended up being a do nothing day. We did not move and we did not go any where. By the time I took the two pictures below, just a little before noon, we had decided to spend another night right where we are. There was still a lazy snow coming down when I snapped these and what had been on the ground was gone.

Should we have left as planned? Was it the right decision to stay? One thing we have learned is once we make the decision those questions are both useless to think about. So instead we enjoyed a quiet day. Tom put up the antennae and was able to find a station to watch  the Green Bay Packer game later in the day. I do not remember the last time he was able to do that so he was a happy camper especially since they won. I did some hand sewing that I had been putting off and finished stringing a bracelet along with a  necklace I had started when we were still in Escanaba. All in all it was a nice quiet Sunday here in the Stinger "B".

Before going to bed last night we spent some time looking at the temperatures for where we planned on heading. When we got up this morning we did the same thing. It looks like it is going to be pretty cold one low temperature we saw was a -2 so we knew we could not go that way. Then with some sadness I called and talked with Shirley, Seeing America with Ken and Shirley, to let them know we would not be able to come their way. We were so looking forward to seeing them and where they live, she posts some beautiful pictures, and are very disappointed it will not happen. Though we may come up with a Plan B or C.
We instead turned the Stinger "B" south and we are now getting close to St. George, Utah where we plan on stopping for the night.
Reflecting on yesterday's decision, if we had left we would have found ourselves dealing with some very cold weather. So in the end that decision did end up being the right one.

Green River to Draper Plus Two More Days

After spending four nights in Green River, visiting two National Parks, and taking a ride up Sego Canyon it was time to move down the road.

We merged on to I-70 , drove over the Green River once again
and caught a last glance of  Monument Hill. 

After just a couple of miles we left I-70 and turned onto
US-6 West and US-191 North. 

The following pictures are of the drive to Draper, Utah. Just before Provo we merged onto I-15. I am pretty sure they are all in the right order. For most of the ride we were on two lanes but with passing lanes no more than 5 miles apart it is a pleasant drive. Even those vehicles stuck behind us never had to wait long to pass us by.

There were a lot of ups and downs today but nothing
really steep. Though a few times the Stinger "B"
picked up some pretty good speed going downhill.

then there it was right in front of us.

We have found the traffic.

We have seen several Amazon semis this the first time we
have seen their vans.

The picture below is the RV Park we were headed for, Mountain Shadows RV and Mobile Home Park. Neither one of us remembers seeing the Mobile Home Park when we were looking for a place to stay. This is mostly long term residents. When Tom called the gentleman he talked to said, they were full but he did have some overflow parking with water and electricity. We talked about it and decided this would work just fine. This was not a destination park for us it was a stopover to re-stock the fridge and do some other shopping. What he did not mention was this overflow parking is on the road coming into the park. They do put out safety cones, as you can see in the picture, and we even have a cute little guy telling drivers to go slow. We are not alone; there is another motorhome parked with us and they have all their slides out. We opted not to push our living room further into the road. We are next to the dog walking area so as George, Our Awesome Travels, would say we are getting our doggy fix. Plus, we are poolside unfortunately it is closed for the season. Not to mention we have a mountain view out our front window. The best part we are right across from the office and the WiFi is wonderful. All and all not a bad parking space.

Today we went shopping. Before we left I took a couple more pictures of our parking space. The top picture is the dog area they even have a waterfall. Below the pool area and then a closeup of our traffic guy.

Saturday, October 26, 2019

Saturday we stayed pretty close to home most of the day. We went to 5 o'clock mass and did a little shopping before and after. We went out to eat at a restaurant called Cultivate a small restaurant that our server told us had just opened this week. In the same building is a restaurant, Cliff Dining Pub, owned by the same people which was our destination. As we were walking by towards the other restaurant looking in we decided to turn around and go in here instead. We shared three menu items and all three were delicious.

We enjoyed our time here in Draper. This RV Park is within 5 miles of everything we needed. We were able to re-stock our refrigerator, plus, pick up a few other things on my shopping list. Checking the weather before we went to bed last night we could see there was a possibility of  snow this morning. Our goal today is to get past Salt Lake City and merge onto I-80 heading west. It is still early and we can see the traffic moving on I-15. Fingers crossed by the time we are ready to leave the snow will have stopped coming down.

P.S. It really has not been that bad being parked on the street.

Every morning Tom makes the coffee. It is so nice to
start the day being handed a hot mug of coffee.
