In the last blog I published we had pulled in to The Tradewinds RV in Golden Valley on March 16th where we would be spending 3 nights using our Passport America membership.

We drove over to Mr. D'z, a Route 66 diner, where we joined friends for dinner.

We always enjoy getting together with these two couples. Jill and I went to grade school together; Jill, Pat, and I went to high school together. So, yes, we have known each other for awhile...😊The conversation never stops and it is nice getting caught up. Looking forward to the next time.

Today we took a ride over to the visitor center in Kingman to pick up some brochures about places to visit in Arizona along our path as we continue our trek East. I did take pictures and they along with others I took while we were in the area are below.

This was our second time staying at this park the last time we were in our 5th Wheel the Crusader. This park is well kept up, clean, and the staff is very welcoming. The sites though are tight and we were glad to be in a pull through. When leaving if the site across from us had been occupied it would have been a lot more back and forth to make the turn out of our site so we would not hit a tree. Being able to pull forward into the site across the way made it easier for Tom to maneuver and make the turn. That being said there are some sites in the park that would not be a problem for us to easily get in and out of or if you are in a shorter rig you would not have the issue we had.

Hooked up and ready to head to our next stop on the east side of Kingman.
Kim and Ken, friends from Ontario, have often talked about how much they enjoy their Harvest Host membership. We have talked about joining in the past but never actually did anything about it. After reading about their stops on their way West this year and learning about the special Harvest Host was running we decided to join. Our first time using it was to stay at the Desert Diamond Distillery in Kingman. The hosts were very welcoming and we enjoyed a Rum tasting and stopped in another time for one of their cocktails. Listening to them talk about the distilling process and their products you cannot help but realize they are proud of what they have built here and they should be as they have won several awards. A couple bottles of their product may have made their way into the motorhome for future consumption.

Today we met up with up with Michelle and Doug who we met a few years ago through our blog. They have a permanent home in Kingman but enjoy being out traveling in their RV. They chose the Dambar Steakhouse for lunch. What a good choice, guys. We not only enjoyed a good time visiting; the meal was excellent. Keep in touch as you travel on your next adventure.

Today we drove over to the Riverside Casino in Laughlin, NV to have lunch and visit with Rose and George who were staying there. We met them a few years ago at LaPosa South near Quartzsite. We were both parked with a group of mutual friends.

The ride over to Laughlin on AZ-68 is beautiful.

The pictures do not even begin to do the views justice.
We met near the entrance to the buffet and they graciously bought us lunch. When we tried to refuse Rose mentioned something about all their points. Regardless, we appreciate their thoughtfulness.

Rose, George, and Gigi
Gigi is George's Service Dog and what a sweetheart she is. So attentive and well behaved if we had not seen her with George we would have never known she was sitting next to him while we ate. She may be George's Service Dog but it was cute how she kept checking to make sure Rose was coming as we walked along looking at the cars.
The pictures of the vehicles below were taken by Tom. I enjoyed walking around, chatting with Rose, and looking at all the cars but Tom really enjoyed the chance to see all these classics.

The following pictures I took on different days when we visited in Kingman. They are mostly of the Downtown Historical District on Route 66.

The ten days flew by. The rest of our stay in Kingman will be in the next blog. I do have a tendency towards picture overload...😊

Thanks for sharing all of your pictures with us and nice you could visit friends as you are working your way back east.

Thank you, Sue. Our main reason for stopping in Kingman is to visit with friends so we were really glad when it all worked out.
DeleteI'm so glad you were able to stay long enough in the area to catch up on those visits.
ReplyDeleteSuch nice memories. I agree that Gigi is a very nice addition to their family.
Enjoy the leisurely drive back into the cooler temperatures now.
We were glad it all worked out. Gigi is a sweet dog for sure. It looks like we are going to be in cooler temperatures as we slowly head east. Now the hope is they do not decide to go crazy and drop into the freezing range...lol
DeleteGreat photos, thank you
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteI didn't realize you were in the Kingman area for 10 days. That was a very productive stop. Great pictures.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Elva. We had not planned on staying in Kingman for 10 days. Then we found the Little Old Wine Drinkers Winery and thought why not stay another 4 days. So we did and are glad we did.
DeleteGuess I'll have to check out Kingman once again. But only in the winter!!!
ReplyDeleteThe main reason we stop here is to see friends but it is a nice area and we always enjoy the stop.
