Filling the Blanks - March 21 & 22, 2016

We left Golden Valley, AZ  with our next goal to visit the Petrified Forest National Park and the Painted Desert. Instead of leaving Kingman on I 40 we decided to take a loop north on AZ 66 Historic Route 66.

Pictures taken along our route from Kingman, AZ to Ash Fork, AZ on March 20th. We just basically drove the route. We are hoping, putting this drive on the list of places, to revisit and spend more time exploring.

The Burma-Shave Signs

We spent the night in Ash Fork.

Our patio area at RV park.
This was the best view in this park.

Burma-Shave sign on road into the park we stayed at.

On March 22nd we drove from Ash Fork, AZ to Sun Valley, AZ where stayed at the Sun Valley RV park. The new owners are totally renovating this park and for a night or two this was a nice stop. It was a very windy drive and we considered not leaving Ash Fork that morning but in the end decided to go for it. We spent two nights and visited the Petrified Forest National Park while here. The wind never let up.

We also drove into Holbrook on the 22nd after setting up at the park.

This is a cement block wall in an empty lot with a map of
Route 66 painted on it.

Each wigwam had a older vehicle parked outside the door.
If we did not pull our home behind us it would be fun to spend the night here.
