Today was to be a lazy type of day. Tom did go and fill the bladder with water since it did say our tank was on empty but other then that we had no real plans. It was warm enough to sit out and enjoy our coffee and then later I did go back out to sit and crocheted for awhile. They had predicted there would be some wind later in the day, around 18 mph but for now there was a slight breeze which felt good sitting in the warm sun. Around 3 o'clock the wind did start to pick up a bit and later when we walked across the way to Cathy and Shane's for Happy Hour we brought in the awning. Around 6 o'clock it hit and when I say it hit I mean it hit. Tom noticed our slide topper was really blowing and walked back to bring our large slide in. He no sooner got back and we heard a snap the force was hard enough to pull one of the anchors out of the tent wall. We have parked out here several times over the years and we never remember it being quite this fierce. As I write this on Sunday afternoon the wind that started last evening has not let up. Yet the sky is as blue as it was yesterday.
I took this of my view as I was sitting and crocheting.
Those are the Ogilby Hills in the distance.

Imperial Sand Dunes in the Distance
I just like this sign as we head into Yuma.
We drove over to the Arizona Market Place today. Just a quick stop to pick up a couple of things. Then we drove to the East Side of Yuma to visit Tacos El Cositas for lunch. We had read about this place on Nancy's blog, Kissack Adventures, she had taken pictures and the fish tacos sounded and looked delicious. It did not disappoint and the prices, $2.25 for a fish taco and $2.50 for a shrimp taco, we thought were more then reasonable. Plus, Nancy was right they were very, very good.
It was a fish type of day for us and we stopped at the restaurant located in the Westwind RV Park on our way home to pick up two fish fries to go. We have ate there in the past when we have stayed in the park and have been told by others in the park they fly in fresh Alaskan Cod for their fish fry. True or not it is delicious and for $24 and change they are worth it as far as we are concerned.
I took this picture after the sun had set and before
total darkness. That in between time of twilight when
everything, even in the desert, takes on a softness.

Doug decided today was the day for him and Yuma to head out and start the very slow trek East. We have enjoyed the time we have spent with the White Lion and its occupants parked near us this winter and with any luck will catch up with the two of them as we start our slow trek East next month. It looks empty across the way with the White Lion gone. To check up on him and Yuma, Miss Adventure Travels, he always has some great pictures to share.
They pulled up to say a quick see you down the road
and after going across the way
to see Cathy and Shane they are off.
Then there are two.
Caught the last of the glow left behind by the setting sun.
Taking a trip back a few more days.

Today was a great cloud day.
Cathy and Shane's Place
What can I say I thought it was cute.
Some of the Ocotillos are getting red blossoms.
Our Neighborhood.
There were some lovely shadows on the mountains.

We went into Yuma to run a few errancs and picked up some groceries.
A Yuma Palm.
There was enough wind to kick up some dust today.
The Ogilby Hills
Tonight's sunset set the sky on fire.
We are enjoying our days parked out here just off of Ogilby Road. The quiet and the peace we have found here parked next to friends is wonderful.
We are glad you stopped by!
If you have time to leave a comment we would enjoy hearing from you.
You pick the best neighborhoods!! Glad you liked the tacos. One of my favorite places. The wind - well it’s the wind. I’m not a fan at all. It’s been windy on and off here too but finally today it’s beautiful! May be spring after all.
ReplyDeleteWe always expect some wind when we are parked out in the desert but it did get a little out of hand on the 20th when it finally stopped blowing on Sunday the silence was almost eerie...lol We did have blue skies and sunshine so it is hard to complain to much.
DeleteToo bad about the winds, but I'd still take it over what we have. :)
ReplyDeleteI have to agree with you.
DeleteWe've had some wind this winter also. More than usual it seems. But at least the sun is shining and you have beautiful clouds. Hard to believe its getting close to time for you to head east. Seems like you just got here.
ReplyDeleteIt does seem like we have been in more wind then usual but like you said, at least we have had sunshine. I feel like we just got here, also. Time is flying by way to fast.
DeleteWe've had wind too in Death Valley, we're kinda used to it as we have more than our share at home! Nancy's tacos have converted us to cabbage when we make them now! So crunchy and delicious! Beautiful pictures of the area as always :))
ReplyDeleteI can deal with the wind unless it feels like I am eating dust and Saturday was that sort of wind. Then I remember we could be in below freezing temperatures and it is not so bad and we did have blue sky. One of the places we have stopped at north of Yuma on 95, From the Farm, has a choice of a cabbage leaf in place of a corn or flour tortilla. That is good, also.
DeleteYou're still doing good with the scenery all around you but I think you sent the Wind our way. It's really picked up today.
ReplyDeleteBe Safe and Enjoy!
It's about time.
My sister in Wisconsin asked if we had sent the wind east, also. It must have went right across the country. Stay safe and warm.
DeleteOh my gosh that last sunset picture was amazing! Well done and thanks for sharing :-)
ReplyDeleteThat sunset was amazing and surprisingly the picture looked pretty close to what we saw. Glad you liked it.
DeleteI remember the wind. Always the best sunsets out on Ogilby Road. Thanks for the nice mornings enjoying the weather.
ReplyDeleteThe wind has been with us this year for sure. I agree some of the best sunsets are out on Ogilby Road.
