The Month of April Begins

Saturday, April 1st through Wednesday, April 5th, 2023

After tonight's sunset we had some lovely color.
In the top picture I could see the moon above the trees.

Deb and Riley will be leaving in the morning as we got ready
to break up after our Happy Hour one last selfie before hugs,
see you later's and safe travels . 

It has been an interesting month so far and we are only a few days in. We are still at Quail Ridge RV Park in Huachuca City and one week has turned into two. Patsy, Chillin' with Patsy and Bill, On Our Way pulled in here on Saturday, April 1st and have had some issues with their truck, check out Patsy's Blog for information, it is their story to tell. Through it all we have enjoyed our Happy Hours that even with everything going on have been filled with laughter. 

They were even brave enough to get in the Jeep the next day, which is not doing well, and take a trip over to Tombstone for lunch at Big Nose Kate's and a walk up and down Allen Street. Plus, we did take a quick ride up to the Linear Garden and checked out some dry camping behind the courthouse. Our neighbors at the park had mentioned it, it was the first we had ever heard of it, and for $10 you can park on a flat area and walk up a short hill to most of what there is to see in Tombstone.

Back to Quail Ridge in time for Happy Hour we could see the Igloo was parked just down the row from us. That means our special friends, Deb and Riley, On a long and lonesome highway.... have arrived so now Happy Hour increased by two and the fun times along with laughter continues. 

Deb and Riley had planned on staying two nights but extended till tomorrow morning; having the only reliable vehicle they decided to stay longer to be here to help.  I know Patsy and Bill have appreciated this as much as we have. Knowing they have a deadline for crossing the border back into Canada and a lot of miles to put behind them before then it is time for Deb and Riley to begin that trek. Thank you Deb we appreciate your help it was a wonderful thing for you to do especially since we know it changed your route and time frame for traveling back to do so.  I can hear you saying that is what friends do but thank you just the same. 

It looks like Patsy and Bill's truck issues will be taken care of and they will be close behind them as they have a border to cross and a deadline, also. It was nice having this extra time to visit we just wish it would have been under different circumstances. Fingerscrossed they are out of here Friday. 

As for the Jeep well we have a check engine light and beeping going on. We had an issue in Yuma and they fixed it but there was also the possibility that what is happening now would need to be taken care of. It is not a cheap fix or a quick one and we cannot stay here for a month to six weeks to have it taken care of. Even though we do not have a border to cross by a certain date we do have a granddaughter making her First Communion in five weeks and we do not want to miss that. So our decision is to start our trek East on April 10th towing the Jeep and hoping for the best. If that does not work well we will deal with it as it comes we have options.

If the Jeep has not been enough fun our original reason for extending our stay was a driver's side airbag leak. The guy who is going to be replacing it has had trouble finding one it seems according to Freightliner there is an airbag shortage. He was able to finally locate one in Phoenix and it is suppose to be at his shop tomorrow.  Hopefully it will arrive as promised and be in the Stinger "B" on Friday. 

When all is said and done we are five days into April and you will have to agree with how I started this blog it has been an interesting month so far...lol

We are in Arizona!

Today was a travel day and usually we do some packing up the night before. Last night we did not. So even though we were up and moving around 7:00am we did not pull out of the Low-Hi RV Ranch until close to 11:00. There may have been some relaxing coffee time in there, also. Today's ride will take us just about 200 miles west and then south. We enjoyed our stay at this park and would stop again.

Top left corner was at the end of our row it is called the

Pyramid of Geezers. One down is the Stumphenge at the

end of the row behind us.  Bottom one is the office.

The last larger picture is our site.

I am not sure exactly were we are on I-10 I am going to

guess close to Lordsburg. The hope is the ride will be 

smoother once all the construction is finished.

Leaving Deming we found I-10 rough going.

We have come by this area and seen water out on the flats

 today we could only see the potential for dust. 

We have seen a lot of these along I-10.

We also see a lot of these.

Then we spotted this sign ahead. We have seen it several

times over the years and it is always a welcome sight.

We were also glad to see the rest stop sign we knew would

be just past the Arizona State Line. It was time for lunch.

The Semis keep coming.

They may be grey sticks right now but I was happy to

see the Ocotillos out the window.

Then we were driving by the Texas Canyon.

A few more miles and we were exiting on to AZ-90.

When we left here at the end of March this Border Patrol

Check Point was closed nice to see it open again,

A turn right off of AZ-90 onto AZ-82 and we can see this 

sign. We will call this home for 5 nights. We have stayed

here at least once every adventure and always enjoy our stay.

Today is Veteran's Day in the USA and Remembrance Day in Canada both special days to remember those who have served and say Thank You.

We have never stopped here and not taken at least one ride over to Tombstone and today we did just that and having lunch at Big Nose Kate's was in the plan. You and George came to mind today Suzie we remember George's Blog about this place which is what brought us here the first time. We miss you both.

This gentleman did an excellant job keeping us 

entertained while we enjoyed our lunch.

As we left after lunch we decided to take a 

selfie. As many times as we have been here

it is the first time we thought of it.

When we got here the street was fairly busy as we left

 we noticed was how few people there were.

No trip to Tombstone would be complete, in our opinion, 

without a trip up to the Linear Garden.

A new addition since the last time is Grumpy's Book Nook.

Nancy, Kissack Adventures, posted about this a few years

ago and we have enjoyed checking it out each time we 

stop. Thanks Nancy.

Besides the fun of seeing the Linear Garden the views

of Tombstone are wonderful.

The days ahead are predicted to be sunny and warm and we plan on enjoying them.  We hope where ever you are you are enjoying each day, also.

We Have Moved to Arizona

I am a day late but no less grateful.  I would like to take a moment to thank and honor those in our family that served. First Tom and his brother Jerry, my brother Frank, and our son Thomas.  We remember every day both of our fathers who served in the Army during World War II, We also think of friends, children, and grandchildren of friends with gratitude for their service. To each of you we say, Thank You For Your Service! 

We would also like to take a moment to say, Thank You to Our Canadian Friends who have served. As we observe Veteran's Day in the the US on November 11th our neighbor to the north, Canada, observes Remembrance Day. 

Well, if we are friends on facebook, you already have seen the picture below and  know we left Rusty's RV Ranch near Rodeo, New Mexico on Tuesday, November 10th. We did so under beautiful blue skies. Check out was at 11 o'clock and we pulled out of our site right on time. We only had about 124 miles to go to our next destination so there was no real hurry. So we enjoyed our coffee and slowly got ready to pull out. We really enjoyed our time here. The quiet and slow pace of this month was something we both needed.

The Jeep is hooked up and we are ready to go. The
picture in the upper right is looking towards the
entrance of the park. We will miss the quiet of this
 place but it is time to move on.

We are on AZ-80

and even though we have made this trip a few times
in the last month the views never disappoint.

The golden grass along with the green bushes and
the mountains in the distance are beautiful.

We can now see Douglas in the distance.

Turning North onto US-191.
By the time I got the camera up and focused we were
past the cemetery. Most of the cemetery's in the 
southwest are filled with flowers and memories.
All very colorful.
Something we seldom, if ever, see back home.

I wish the true golden color of the grass came through.

We reached McNeal and turned West onto Davis Road.
A windmill and a "wiggle worm" sign, two things
that always make me smile.

You can probably tell I love the beauty of
the colors as we make our way to today's  destination.

We are back on AZ-80 and as you can see going
through Tombstone on Freemont Street.

This picture is out of order. It was just after we turned
onto AZ-80 before Tombstone. I already had the 
collage done yet I still wanted to include it.

We have now reached our last turn for the day.
We will be heading west on AZ-82.

If we would have continued North we would have
stopped for a short visit with these guys.

You are looking at  my favorite stretch of this road.
We can see the the line of green trees stretching in
both directions, my picture of that did not turn out, in 
the distance. Then we cross over the San Pedro River.
I could not see any water flowing today.

As I mentioned above our journey here was a short one, just a couple of hours. We are now settled into our site for the month. We like this area and this park. We actually have stopped here at least once every year during our adventures. Even though the sites are a lot smaller and closer then Rusty's we know we will enjoy our time here. Bonus: as we are all aware the coronavirus has had an impact on travel and staying in RV Parks. Some parks are requiring that you are totally self-contained to stay as they have all the facilities closed. Some like this one have the bathrooms and laundry facilities open but nothing else. None as far as we have seen have any activities or pools open. When we checked in, and this is the bonus, they asked if we would like Thanksgiving Dinner. Surprised we said yes and she explained the owner loves Thanksgiving and so he and the staff are cooking dinner and will be delivering it to our door. Not as great as getting to gather at the clubhouse where we would get to sit and chat and meet new people but special of them to do just the same. Side note: this park is full.
