Just after lunch Tom decided to take a ride over to the Ajo Museum that is out by the New Cornelia Open Pit Mine. Tom said he found it to be a very interesting stop. There were three gentleman working in the museum when he was there and one of them did ask if he had any questions, which he did. He said the man he talked with was very informative and interesting to listen to; he could tell he really knew the history of the area. He also, listened to another gentleman talking with some woman also visiting the museum. Tom mentioned he had some interesting stories to tell. Stopping at these small museums is something Tom really enjoys. Unfortunately, a lot of the times when we stop together I have a hard time spending any length of time in these smaller home town museums because of allergies and even though I tell him to take his time and enjoy he usually does not. Going by himself today he could really take his time enjoying the displays at the same time I enjoyed just being back at the Stinger "B".
The Ajo Historical Society was founded in 1975 and the Ajo Historical Society Museum was opened in 1976. The Museum is located just a few minutes away from downtown Ajo at the St. Catherine's Indian Mission 1/4 mile to the west of the mine overlook on the Mine lookout road. The area was once called Indian Town but all the homes are gone. The Museum is maintained by a group of retired citizens of Ajo, AZ. (from the internet)

Today was a definitely another "do nothing" but enjoy life kind of day. I did not even take one picture.
We do hope all our family and friends enjoyed a Happy St. Patrick's Day!
