We have been busy and have kept out of trouble since the last time I blogged back in April. We did make it back into Michigan were we spent time with family and friends. I will be doing a couple of blogs to catch up. In the meantime I thought I would start with where we are and how we got here. Well at least how we got here from Bastrop, Texas where we spent 8 days.
Day 1, November 4th
We left Bastrop and the Hwy 71 RV Park on a cloudy misty day.
After taking the frontage road down to a traffic light we
have turned left and are headed west on State Hwy 71.
I snapped this as we drove back past the RV Park.
We are headed towards a Toll Road.
Nothing about cost the bill will be in the mail.
The guess is an engineer had fun designing this.
We only skirted the southern end of Austin.
Not to many miles down the road and we
were driving through the Hill Country.
Back in 2014, our first year out, we spent time in this area
and visited the Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park.
Today we were just driving through.
We are now on I-10.
Today's goal was to end the day after about 222 miles at a rest area near Sonora, TX. If you are sensing that did not work out you would be right. We pulled in and the road we would be parking on was a hill going up. After sitting there for about 10 minutes the decision was to pull out and keep going. The next rest area was 85 miles down the road near Iran, TX and that is were we stopped for the night on flatter ground.
Day 2, November 5th
We opened the curtains to a beautiful blue sky this morning. After our morning coffee we were on our way.
We have just passed Ft. Stockton
Always a nice reminder.
We stopped at this rest area for lunch.
In the original plans this was going to be our stop for our
second night after a short 168 miles.
Today we kept going.
We ended our day after 271 miles at a rest area about 40 miles east of El Paso, TX.
Our spot for the night. A worker had just hosed it down as
we pulled in. We again started the day under blue skies.
We were soon in El Paso traffic but it was early Saturday
morning and we sailed through pretty easily.
After about 30 minutes we are through the worst
of the traffic and then we see a couple of these
wind turbine blades heading east.
Texas is in the rearview mirror and we cross into
New Mexico. I think they have the best sign.
Not long and we are driving along the edge of Las Cruces.
I had been watching for the Roadrunner and then there he
was just ahead. I took this from a distance and as I was set
to take one as we passed a semi passed us. Not complaining
we are grateful for all the truck drivers out there who spend
endless days traveling our highwaysto keep us supplied with
all the things we use on a daily basis.
Then ahead a border patrol check station. We also saw one in
Texas for the traffic heading East. It has been a couple of years
since we drove this route and these are new to us since then.
We have lucked out over the years and have never
been in a dust storm along here.

We pulled into the Low-Hi RV Ranch just before noon on Saturday for four nights. (I need to take pictures.) We ended up being a day ahead and when I called in the morning the site was open early. This a Passport America Park so the price is right, plus, it is level and clean. It is all gravel and the sites are typical size but we would stay her again.
A couple of pictures of Deming.
We went to Santa Anna Catholic Church on Sunday.
From the pictures you can see it is a pretty church.
We know we are in the southwest because a representation
of Our Lady of Guadalupe is always present.
I love the statue of St. Ann.
The first sunset picture I have taken this Adventure.
We were headed home on NM-11.
As we travel on this our 8th Adventure
we are grateful to still be living
Our Retirement Dream.
