Quiet Days, A Visit With Friends, and A Happy Birthday!

Wednesday, March  29th through Friday, March 31st, 2023

These last days really have been quiet ones for us. Tom has been slowly washing and waxing the Stinger "B" and I have gotten all our wash caught up and organized a few things inside.

On a not so fun note we had a gentleman come by to check out our airbags. When we were getting ready to leave the Justin's Diamond RV Park in Tucson Tom could hear air coming out from underneath the front of the motorhome. He knew right away it was probably a hole in one of the airbags. We have experienced this once before and knew they would stay up while the motor was running so we headed to our next stop here at Quail Ridge. Once we got set up he started looking for an RV repair place. The bottom line, there is a small hole in the driver's side airbag and it will need to be replaced. We have been able to extend our stay and hopefully a new airbag will get here early this coming week. If not we will deal with that then. For now we are going to enjoy our stay here and possibly take a couple of rides. One thing we know is there is no reason to stress about something we cannot do anything about. Living in a motorhome is no different than living in a sticks and bricks house things break and need to be fixed.

Thursday the wind joined us and the temperature dropped. Tom took the day off from waxing the rig and went for a haircut in the morning. Then I went to pick up a few things at Walmart in the afternoon. That was as exciting as the day got.

Friday was a day we were looking forward to our friends Melissa and Lyle decided to come for a second visit. We had talked about meeting halfway but they decided to drive the distance down to us. Not only that they brought lunch and it was delicious. If I could remember to take pictures there would be one of the lovely spread Melissa put together of shrimp salad and egg salad sandwiches with vegies and dip. Plus add to that there was a desert of cake, fruit and sherbet. It was a wonderful second visit that went by way to fast. In no time we were getting hugs and saying see you soon.

they left and as luck would have it we are all smiling.

Today was our brother-in-law Perry's 61st Birthday and he celebrated in Heaven. 

We love and miss you always!

We are stopped for the night in another Texas Rest Area off of I-20 near Van, TX. We started the day under cloudy skies but before long the sun was shining and checking temperatures along the way it was not long before it was in the 80's. After spending several months in the desert with all the cacti and lovely Ocotillos we are now seeing a lot of green grass. Today we could see leaves budding on the trees.

Monday Shirley and Ken, Seeing America with Ken and Shirley arrived in time for Happy Hour.
The conversation for the next few hours never stopped. One of the things we discussed was going to Bisbee for lunch the next day.

We picked them up in the morning but before we took off we had a tour of their new "Mansion" and it is beautiful. I love Shirley's kitchen area I know she has more counter space then I do. Yes, I am just a little jealous.🌞 I of course never took a picture but I know she has put several out on her blog. We hope they have many fun trips in their new home away from home on wheels.

We peeked in here. We have walked by in the past but this was
the first time the gates were open. Checking online this is
actually an event venue. Those Iron Gates, no picture, we
walked in through are 100 years old.

We stopped and had lunch at Santiago's Mexican Restaurant. We all thought the food was quite good and I enjoyed my Margarita. It may have been a little pricey but Tom and I have ate at a couple of restaurants in Bisbee and we thought the prices were in line with the other restaurants in the area. It is a tourist spot after all.

smiling because we all agreed we had a good time.
The area we were parked in is known as the
Historic Brewery Gulch. 

Heading back to Quail Ridge we took a quick side trip into
Tombstone to see the Linear Garden. 

Arriving back home it was almost time for Happy Hour. Deb and Riley, On a long and lonesome highway...., arrived followed by Doug and Michelle, and Shirley and Ken. Shirley came with snacks which we all enjoyed. It was a fun few hours and the conversation in the Stinger "B" never stopped.

This was definitely a good day. We spent the afternoon in Bisbee where we had a nice lunch with good friends. Came back and spent the evening enjoying a Happy Hour filled with conversation and laughter with good friends. A memory day for sure.

This would be the problem I sometimes encounter because I am behind with posting. I really do not remember what we did. I am thinking it was one of those days we just enjoyed and did not do anything but relax because I did not take any pictures.

Spending Time With Friends, Quiet Sunday, and Catching Up (Chris's Visit)

Today was a fairly nice day and Tom had set this morning aside to give the outside of the Stinger "B" and the Jeep a bath. I was busy inside putting together a couple of salads and doing a little house cleaning as we had guest arriving to spend the afternoon and join us for dinner.  So I never did get outside to take a picture of him hard at work. I did take a picture this morning before we headed off to Mass. They both look all sparkly clean.

The dogsled pulled up right around 2 o'clock with Deb and Riley inside. It was still fairly nice for sitting outside so we sat down and chatted  for a bit in the fresh air before heading inside were it was warmer. The day slipped by so fast and it seemed like they had just gotten here when it was time to say goodnight. We all say it often enough because it is so true, time flies when you are having fun. Thank you for coming and spending the day with us we had such a good time.

We went 10 o'clock Mass this morning at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church in Sierra Vista. It is a lovely faith filled parish and we always enjoy going to Mass there.

They have several niches around the outside walls with statues
of various saints. On the right is Our Lady of Guadalupe.
On the left is St. Kim Taegon Andrew the first
Korean-born Catholic Priest and the patron saint of Korea.

After mass we decided to stop at Sunny D's for breakfast in
Huachuca City. As we passed by heading towards Sierra Vista
 the parking lot was full which is usually a good indication 
 it is a good choice. The service was excellent and the food 
was good. The only complaint would be is that the food 
was warm but not hot.  We would probably stop again.

and it was way off in the distance.

It certainly was a very pretty blue though

to bad it was not above us with sunshine.

It was a quiet day here. Tom put away the few things we had outside and I worked on organizing pictures I had taken while my sister was here. That was about as exciting as it got here which is just fine. We all need days that are just days to be lived.


Continuing the Catch Up

We had made the decision that today we would take a ride to Bisbee. Long ago when the copper and silver mines were in full swing it was the largest city in the Southwest between St. Louis and San Francisco. Today it is a quirky little town which I read described as filled with eccentric charm perched on a picturesque mountainside. The streets are narrow and the houses seem to grow out of the mountain and many are colorfully painted adding to the charm. Plus, there are murals on walls and even one little alley with a wall of framed art. It is one of those places you need to experience first hand. Tom and I have been there a couple of times and always enjoy the day. We always seem to spot something we did not see before.

Heading south we connected to AZ-92 and would eventually
connect to AZ- 80. After visiting Bisbee we continued
 on AZ-80 until we reached AZ-82 which we took back
to Quail Ridge. This was some of our scenery on 92. 

Even without the sun it was beautiful ride.

We decided to make a short detour and stop at
Our Lady of the Sierras Shrine.

Tom and I had stopped here a couple of years ago and
thought it was beautiful. 

The views of the San Pedro Valley are wonderful.

In 2011, a fire known as the "Monument Fire"  destroyed or damaged 40 homes in the area including the shrine. Below is a picture of the original Tabernacle.

The views from up here are truly beautiful and the Shrine,
in our opinion, is worth the stop.

Our next stop was the Lavender Open Pit Mine.

Our next stop Bisbee itself.

Our first stop was for lunch at the Bisbee Table.

After lunch we took a walk up and down  a couple of the
streets and in and out various shops.
Thought these stemless wine glasses were cute but not
cute enough to pay the price.

We then stopped at the Bisbee Coffee Company to try some
of the coffee roasted in Bisbee. 

Then we took a short ride around the area.

It was somewhat of a long day but we did enjoy it. The only thing that would have made it better was if the sun would have decided to make an appearance.  We kept busy while Chris was here and really enjoyed having her visit. More of what we did in the next post.
