A toast to what has been a Wonderful Ninth Adventure!
No we are not back in Michigan that will not happen for a few more weeks. Tomorrow, though, starts a different type of traveling it will mostly be about getting from point A to B and some praying and hoping that we can get to point B. Some of our plans are still up in the air because of the weather ahead on our route and at our destination. So we are not absolutely sure how it is all going to play out. Life is always an adventure and one thing we have learned over the years is we cannot control everything. Sometimes it is about going with the flow and adjusting, sometimes several times, as we go. There is beauty all across this country and in these next weeks, if things go as planned, we will be seeing some new areas as we put the Southwest behind us and make miles towards the North. One thing for sure we will be enjoying the Journey.

Wanting to stay in warmer temperatures we opted to make a stop at Elephant Butte Lake State Park. Patsy and Bill, Chillin' with Patsy, have stayed here several times over the years and Patsy has blogged about it with some great pictures. Tom and I always talked about stopping and this was the year it worked out for us to do so. By the time we made the decision and checked for reservations we found that there were not a lot of options as far as sites. We are in the South Monticello Campground and do not have a view of the lake or real great views in general from our site. If we were to stay here again we now know how to make a better choice. One thing we do have with the site we are in is a sense of privacy and we do like that. What we are enjoying is being able to sit out in the morning enjoying our coffee in the mostly quietness of this place.

This will be our last official stop in the Southwest for this adventure and we are soaking up all the heat we can before we head further North and East.

This morning we took our time we only had a little over an hour to travel to our next destination and check-in at the State Park is listed as 4 o'clock. We were optimistic that even though we would be early the site would be open when we arrived. As we got close we could see it was empty and had been picked up. Happily the site was ready for us to move in.

Every time we travel this way and pass by this sign I think of these characters.

When ever we pass one of these signs I do ask the rocks to all stay up there.

Beautiful mountains on our right and green on our left as we make our way north on I-25.

There was water in the Rio Grande as we passed over it on I-25. I missed the picture on NM-26 earlier and it was pretty dry there

It was a perfect day with a nice uneventful drive. Those are the type of travel days we really like and enjoy.
We are glad you stopped by!
If you have time to leave a comment we would enjoy hearing from you.
