20,454 Days!

Saturday, December 13, 2025

Today we got up to the 20,454th day of being married. It is hard to believe it has been 56 years since that snowy December Day in 1969 when we said "I Do" to each other and committed to a life together. It has been a "ride" as they say. Some good, some not so good but always hanging in there together. Anyone who says it is always perfect I am not quite sure is telling the whole truth and nothing but the truth. What it is and has been are days of fun and laughter and days when it is hard work. Through it all it is about being best friends who truly love each other. The love is what gets you through those days when you do not like each other a lot...lol So that "ride" we have been on these last 56 years has been a wonderful one together. God willing there will be a lot more mornings together where Tom has made the coffee, says good morning with a kiss, and we start our day. Days just like today.

He has not missed a year and this year's are very pretty.

So how did we spend day 20,454 you may ask. Actually it was a pretty ordinary day as days go. I did some laundry, Tom went and joined the Quartzsite Metal Detecting Club. Which, among other things, gives him access to certain land/mining claims in the area to detect for and dig for gold to, as he put it, his heart's content. Then later we went to watch the Christmas Light Parade here in Quartzsite.

Motorcycles and, upper right, a guy peddling a bike filled with
lights went by first. I know its a blur I had not figured out how to
take the pictures yet...lol But he deserved to be included.

There were floats and vehicles filled with lights.

Lots and lots of ATV's

decked out in lights.

The top picture is an ATV.
Bottom the local transit bus.

At the end was Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus and we both
only got his arm waving. Followed by a Fire Engine.

This was a small town USA Christmas Parade and the town did themselves proud. Everyone going by was waving and shouting Merry Christmas. There were a lot of lights some vehicles with a few and some very bright. It was fun to watch them go by. If we are here next year we will be there again.

A side note: I also have been pretty good, not all
56 times, about remembering the Sayklly's Candy
but I did remember this year...😊

In my defense, I do have to remember before we leave Escanaba to make my purchase. I have to admit there have been a few years, shhhhhh .....don't tell anyone, I forgot.

After the parade we opened the champagne and
toasted to the memories and the ones to come!

Today, as I finish writing this, it is day 20,455 as we continue this "ride" enjoying all the moments together. We are living our retirement dream grateful for everyday and being able to say that makes all the days to come special in their own way.

If you have enjoyed the pictures I have put out there
or the words I have added that makes me smile.
If you have time to leave a comment they are always special to read.
No matter what I am glad you stopped by!
