Looking right as we headed back south on AZ-95
the sun was setting.
Turning west on Main Street in Quartzsite the
sky turned a lovely pink.
A beautiful afterglow curtesy of the last of the sunlight.

Today we took a ride south towards Palm Canyon Road. First we wanted to take a right off of US-95 and check out a parking spot. Deb and Riley, On a long and lonesome highway, found this spot and generously shared the discovery with us last year and we spent a couple of very pleasant days there with them. The hope had been to enjoy it again this year with friends but as we are all more then aware a pandemic got in the way. Looking forward to next year. Sadly the Saguaro has lost one of its arms. Tom and I are hoping to spend a couple of days out there in the quiet the spot holds.
Deb and Riley this picture is for you.
Heading next to Palm Canyon Road this Labyrinth was the goal.
I am hoping to go back and walk it sometime in the next couple
of weeks. There was a RV parked right next to it today
and that makes it less then relaxing atmosphere
A Labyrinth is an ancient symbol that relates to wholeness. It combines the imagery of the circle and the spiral into a meandering but purposeful path. The Labyrinth represents a journey to our own center and back again out into the world. Labyrinths have long been used as meditation and prayer tools. A labyrinth’s route is unicursal; that is, it has only a single path. Unlike a maze, a labyrinth is designed for ease of navigation, and it is impossible to get lost within one. Though getting lost in thought is possible.
Continued up to the parking lot
for the wonderful views.
Nest Stop Quartzsite to check out the LTVA's
Definitely not has many rigs at any of them
as we have seen in past years.
We have seen a steady stream of rigs coming in.
Just not as many as in the past.
We will be back that way next week.
It will be interesting to see what the traffic is like.
Turning into the entrance it looks like they are getting set up.
We have read there will be things in place to keep people
safe including one way aisles in the tent along with hand
sanitizer stations available throughout. I would guess masks
will be on that list. We did see quite a few RV's in the lot in
front of the tent.
Turning east on Kuehn there is a lot of open space.
No Bad Boys Cafe this year.
The west side of Kuehn looks like it always does.
Vender after vender in place.
Heading east down Main Street.
As you can see Silly Al's is open and busy.
Interesting side note: the fast food restaurants are only open
for drive through. I now realize I did not really pay attention
to what other restaurants were open.
The southside of the corner at 95 and Main Street is
completely empty. We heard La Mesa RV did not have
enough inventory and decided not to come this year.
Another rumor is they sold the property.
There is one other RV dealership at the east end of Main
Street and that makes only two, that we saw, including the
one by the big tent.
Back at Roadrunner the sun was setting.
There was a lovely afterglow and I could not resist
putting the camera on Photo Illustration and take this shot.
The sky lighting up with color
is always a nice gift at the end of the day.

This morning we moved over to the 3 Dreamers RV Park in Brenda, AZ. The Stinger "B' needs a good cleaning and the wash needs to be done.
The Stinger "B" in the center with our neighbors around us.
It is a nice Park it seems clean and well taken care of. Not a
lot of amenities but there is a laundromat and the price with
Passport America is $16 plus tax and electricity.
We will be staying the five days allowed at that rate.
Friday, January 15, 2021 and Saturday, January 16, 2021
Not a lot to say about the last couple of days. We have been busy cleaning and doing wash; Tom made a trip over to the laundromat and I have been keeping our washer in here busy. The layer of dust is gone and there is now room for a new layer next week when we head back out to the desert.
Memories
One year and a day ago we found out fellow blogger, RV'er, and friend had passed. Tom and I like so many others learned a lot reading George's blog as we ventured out into this lifestyle. We enjoyed a couple of weeks in 2018 and 2019 parked in the same neighborhood with several Canadian friends which included George and Suzie. Enjoying Happy Hours, hearing about their adventures, and getting advice. Advice never forced just given.
I mentioned that on Wednesday this past week we took a ride into the LTVA's near Quartzsite. La Posa South was the last one we rode into; one thing I wanted to visit was the Ocotillo we had been parked by in 2019. When writing the blog today this seemed like the right thing to add.
Like all the other Ocotillos we have seen out here right now
it is grey. Yet in my mind still beautiful.

The rigs are off.

2019
It started as grey as it is above but we had rain during our
stay and the little green leaves finally popped.
Good night from La Posa South 2018
Time flows by but memories last forever.
As always, we are glad you stopped by!
If you have time to leave a comment we would enjoy hearing from you.
Great post Deb. All up to date now. I had wondered how you were doing and I see you have been running around the Quartzsite and Parker area seeing the sights. Lots of great pictures and a lovely remberence of George.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Doug. Yes I am again up to date...😊 We did take time to check a few places out before we settled here. It has been nice having full hookups but we are both looking forward to getting back out in the desert.
DeleteI, too, miss George's blog. But glad to see Suzy post once in awhile. We've spent a lot of time out in the desert at Q but not the last couple of years. Interesting to see that its not near as crowded this year.
ReplyDeleteIt is nice that Suzie post a blog once in awhile. With everything going on I guess it is not a surprise to see less RV's in the Quartzsite area. It will be interesting to see what it looks like this coming week.
DeleteI don't expect there will be many people at the tent this year. People just don't seem to be traveling as much at all. I'm now going to go look up all those places you talked about that I've never HEARD of.
ReplyDeleteWe wonder the same thing about the numbers visiting the tent this year. There actually are RV parks along US-60 and if you stay on it you eventually end up in the Phoenix area.
DeleteThanks Deb for the pictures. Great times we all had.
ReplyDeleteYou are welcome Suzie. We did have a great time, lots of good memories.
DeleteNice Trip down memory lane. George will be missed.
ReplyDeleteThe desert pictures also make us wish we were there.
Be Safe and Enjoy the freedom.
It's about time.
Nice to have good memories.
DeleteWe know how lucky we are to be out here. Stay safe.
I love the 'Now You're Beyond Hope' sign. :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful memories we've all had and they'll get us through until we make new ones, over and over.
I love that sign, also. Once I saw it I knew I had to take a picture.😊
DeleteEvery time I read your blog and see the pictures I think you are making special memories to look back on. Fingers crossed next year everyone is back to enjoying the snowbird lifestyle.
Beautiful skies and memory pictures. I do remember driving thru Hope. That's my aunt's name so it's easy to remember. I remember telling Jerry there's an RV park in Hope. The drive to Parker Dam on the CA side is one of my favorite drives. We might get rain later in the week. Maybe that will help the desert not be so dusty. Have a wonderful day!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you have been through Hope. I was beginning to think people would think I was making up where we are...lol
DeleteEvery time we have driven along the Arizona side we talked about checking out the California side we finally did it. I do hope it rains at least once when we are out in the desert. I love seeing all the small washes fill with water.
Very nice tribute to George.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the photos of 'our spot'. We too are looking forward to parking there with friends again in the future. A fun time for us!!
There are boondocking spots (although I know you weren't looking for boondocking opportunities) out near Hope, Arizona as well. WE checked them out once but didn't stay. I'm not sure if we remove a layer of dust or simply move the layer that's already there around only settle back down when we stop waving a cloth at it. ;)
Thank you.
DeleteWe are looking forward to parking by that Saguaro and friends again in the future, also. Nothing but good memories of the last time. Good to know about the possibility of boondocking near Hope. You never know what the future will bring.
I laughed at the description of the dust just settling back down when you stop waving the cloth because of how true it is. I did take water and soap to this layer so I won for the day...lol Stay safe and hugs to you and Riley.
It was great to see picture of the show area in Quartzite ... and now I have a Silly Al's craving :) In some ways it is hard to believe George is gone but in others it feels like forever.
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed the pictures. Sorry to have brought about a craving. True about George.
