The End of December 2020 (Catch Up Post)

 Monday, December 28, 2020

The sun rising on a new day.

Out the door to head into Yuma
to pick up a curbside order at Walmart.
Stepped out to this sky..

If not for the wind this would be a day to sit out and watch
the shadows dance across the Cargo Muchacho Mountains.

It always amazes me that in Yuma you can be going down a
city street and there in front of  you is a field of vegetables.

As you are riding along you can see fields being picked,
fields being plowed and fields with tiny plants
breaking through the rich soil.

Shadows on the mountains in the distance as we round
the corner and then we are in California.

We have gone by this sign many times and this is the first
time I noticed there are flowers on the ramp hillside.

More crops being picked.

In the distance the sun lights up sections of the sand dunes.

I just liked the clouds in the center of the picture.

Sunlight on the Cargo Muchacho Mountains

Heading home we decided to turn west off of Ogilby Road
and check out Ted Kipf Road. The road itself was not bad
but there was no way off of it except into a wash.

We turned north onto Walker Road and we could see
blue sky off in the distance.

This road took us to Gold Rock Ranch RV Park.

We turned into the gate to check out the park.
Thought this sign said it all.

The main building looked to be closed.
There is, according to there website, a store and a mini museum

The park is full hookups and they have daily, weekly,
monthly, seasonal, and yearly rates.
Plus they have mobile home rates.

According to their website this is a Chuck Wagon.

We  then headed down Gold Rock Ranch Road.

These were along each side of the road.

A cute idea.

Almost back to Ogilby Road we can see the Mountains.
The Tumco/Hedges Gold Mine
is also ahead just across the road.

The clouds did a beautiful job today of creating
shadows on the mountains.

The sun going down on our day

while the moon rises in the East

and the last of the light is disappearing.

Making our way to the Chevron Gas Station in the Stinger "B"
to dump and take on water
we are delayed for a bit as a train crosses by.

I still miss seeing a caboose at the end.

Groups of  people with their ATV's

are starting to make their way into the Fee Area for
the New Year's Weekend.

I never get tired of seeing the shadows

on the mountains.

 December's Full Moon.
It is most commonly known as the "Cold Moon".
A Mohawk name that conveys the frigid conditions of this time
of year, when cold weather truly begins to grip us.

  3. Are the "homeless" people still parked by the Chevron? I always wondered what they do in the summer. I like Wellton but I sure miss the open skies of the desert.... beautiful. We went to that RV park and I want to drive out there this year. It's an interesting place.

    1. Yes they are.
It is an interesting park. At first we thought the price was a little steep but then I found out it is a Passport America Park so that made it a more reasonable choice. Never say never we could end up spending a couple of nights there at some point...:)

    1. I honestly can say when I was taking the pictures of the shadows on the mountains I thought of you. I know we have both expressed how much we enjoy watching that "show". Stay safe.

    1. We have been pretty lucky with the temperatures. It is the wind we have had to learn to deal with. Thank you for saying they were beautiful pictures.
