The sun coming up on 12-13-2023 our 54th Wedding Anniversary. |
The desert lighting up around us. |
I had read on Nancy's blog, Kissack Adventures, that here and some of her friends celebrate the Twelve Days before Christmas. This sounded like a good idea to me so I shared the idea with our friends that we are spending this time together with. After a short discussion we voted and decided it was indeed a good idea. So Tom and I invited everyone over yesterday for some "hors d'oeuvres' " and bubbly to start our Twelve Days of celebration. (We may have also wanted to celebrate our Anniversary with all of them.😉) Thank you for the toast and wishes!
Our first day celebrating the Twelve Days before Christmas! |
The sun is still above the horizon as pulled out onto Ogilby Road. |
The sun was disappearing behind the horizon as we made our way across the bridge into Yuma and the River City Grill for dinner. We celebrated 54 years with a really nice meal. |
Coming home after dark everything looks a little eerie in the Jeep's headlights. |
I often look at the picture below and wonder how those two kids became the people we are today and how did the time between that day in 1969 and today in 2023 fly by so fast? Back then being married ten years seemed like a far off dream let alone 54 years but we made it through all those years, the good and the bad, still enjoying our lives together. We were lucky enough along the way to become parents to two children and they brought a daughter-in-law and nine grandchildren into our lives. We enjoyed many years with our parents and can say our sisters, brothers, and their spouses are not only family but friends. Plus, we have been blessed with many friends along the way.
Retirement was not even on our radar back in those beginning years which I am sure was and still is for most young people. Yet, today, here we are living our retirement dream in our motorhome we affectionately call the Stinger "B". It is a good life and we Thank God everyday that we get to live it and hope to do so for many more years.
