Four Sunsets and Two Sunrises

Sunday, December 10, 2023

We could still hear the wind when we woke up this morning though it had slowed down considerably. We had our coffee and then headed over to the east side of Yuma to attend Mass at St. John Neumann Catholic Church. This is a beautiful church.

The Altar Area.

After Mass we made one quick stop at the Dollar Tree before heading to the Black Bear Diner for breakfast.

Upper left: the last few updates we got before being seated.
Bottom left: Bear Nativity near cash register.
Upper and Middle right: signs on the wall.
Bottom right: this little bear is peeking out from under the bench
across from where we were sitting and waiting our turn to be seated.

After breakfast we made two more stops at Frys and Walmart to pick up some groceries and a couple of other things we needed. Then we headed home.

We are almost home and as we pulled up

we could see Happy Hour had already started.
Our spot in the sun was the warmest and out of the wind.

So we unpacked our purchases and brought them inside. To be honest Tom unpacked while I chatted though I did go in and put the cold stuff away...😊 Then we grabbed something to drink Tom set up two chairs and we sat down joining the three people pictured above for a Happy Hour.

We watched the sun set and not long after the coolness of the evening chased us all inside to the warmth of our homes.

The sun setting behind the clouds.

The Cargo Muchacho Mountains in the last of the sunlight.

Moving the camera slightly to the right of the sunsetting

then north as the light left our day.

A nice way to end our day chatting with friends.

Our day day started like most sitting and enjoying our first cup of coffee together in our home. A little after 11 o'clock I decided to take a ride into Yuma. Looking outside before I left I noticed both our neighbors' vehicles were gone; they had all left earlier for a trip into Yuma. Infact, I passed what looked like Kim and Ken coming back from their trip as I was driving down Ogilby Road towards I-8. I was not sure but I waved just the same and found out at Happy Hour it was them. I had a return to make at Hobby Lobby, I really should have just walked out the door after making the return but no I did not. Instead I decided to take a quick walk around. Lets just say it was not as quick as I thought it would be and a few things did find there way into my cart. I made one more stop at Sprouts Market before heading home. I pulled in back home just after Happy Hour had started.

When I first saw those clouds in the top picture they looked
like wings by the time I focussed and took the picture the shape
had changed. Now it looks to me like to little creatures
kissing the sun. That is what I see...lol

Top pictures: the Cargo Muchacho Mountains as the sun set.

Tom was up in time to take a picture of the sunrise
this morning.

We had visitors for Happy Hour today. Brenda and John, John & Brenda's Incredible Journey, who are also parked out here took a ride over to join us. What a nice surprise to have them stop by and with there help we certainly had some lively conversations. A picture of the group would have been nice to post here but like so often happens with me there is not picture. I am pretty sure Deb, On a long and lonesome highway...., did take a picture. Again it was nice having them join us and we hope they will come back again.

The only picture I took today was of the sun setting on our day.

It was a good day and without the wind a quiet engulfed us that cannot be adequately explained but it does bring a peacefulness to our days.

Our Last Day Parked at Roadrunner BLM For This Time.

Today started early as the Stinger "B" had an 8:30AM appointment at RV Lifestyles and Tom wanted to dump our black tank and top off our propane tank before hand. The plan was to head to Ogilby Road in the next couple of days and we wanted those two things done before leaving.

Our spot looks empty as we head out in the early morning light.

The sun coming up over the Kofa Mountains
as we headed towards Quartzsite.

Kim and Ken, also, went and took care of dumping their tanks
this morning and parked out a little when they came back.
Thanks Ken. Tom was then able to get us backed into our spot
where all our stuff that needed packing up was still outside.

The appointment at RV Lifestyle included good and bad news. The good news they will be able to order and replace our Convection/Microwave and front stove burner. We will have those installed when we are back in the Quartzsite area in January. The bad news, and the main reason for the appointment, our levelers cannot be fixed. The Stinger "B" is 16 years old and the parts are no longer available. They, of course, can be replaced at a cost. We are going to be doing some more checking and following up on a suggestion. At this point we are not ready to make the investment we would have to make to put in new levelers.

While Tom was getting the good and bad news I had my hair permed. The woman who did it did a good job and it turned out as I expected. Now I need to get used to it...lol

Leaving RV Lifestyles Tom stopped and topped off our diesel before heading back to Roadrunner.

Back in time for Happy Hour we sat and chatted as the sun set behind the Dome Rock Mountains. Then the last of the sun's light mixed with the clouds and filled the sky with color. What a beautiful last sunset for what ended up being our last night at Roadrunner after four weeks.

The color was beautiful right to the end.

I was waiting for an Amazon Order and it did show up on the app it had been delivered on Monday. We discussed our plan of action and it was decided if I was able to pick up the order Tuesday morning we would then head out for Ogilby Road. If not we would be leaving on Wednesday. As luck would have it it was available for pick up Tuesday morning. Our move and our new neighborhood in the next catch up blog.

We are glad you stopped by!
If you have time to leave a comment we would enjoy hearing from you.

  2. It is so hard to get motivated for the day when the first thing you hear upon waking up is the wind. Those sunsets are incredible though and make it all better.
