Celebrating the Twelve Days Before Christmas...A Visit to Los Algodones

 Thursday, December 14, 2023

Today our neighborhood was off to Los Algodones to celebrate day two of our Twelve Days before Christmas celebrations. As we were going by Brenda and John's place just a wash or two over they joined our group and we were off to have fun.

My Anniversary Flowers!
Tom/s record is intact he has not missed one...💖

A little outdoor cantina, not sure of the name we take a left after the Purple Pharmacy and walk a block or so and we are there, was our first stop for an adult beverage. This is where the fun began and fun we did have.

That is Deb on the left, then me, Ken, Kim,
John, Brenda and Riley.

We took a walk down a couple of streets and then stopped for lunch. Followed by another walk through a few of the streets and stalls of things to buy. A few purchases may have been made along the way...lol

Our last stop of the day was the El Paraiso.

Bottom left the line out today was short and after a few hours
of fun we were on our way home.

We arrived back home a little past 4 o'clock and Brenda and John joined us on Deb and Riley's patio were the fun continued.

All to soon the sun was setting, taking its light and warmth with it and Brenda and John, John and Brenda's Incredible Journey, headed to their home just down the way. It was so wonderful they decided to join us today they truly added to the fun. They are off tomorrow on a new adventure and we are sad to see them go but we are glad we got to spend this time with them. Looking forward to the next time we cross paths. Safe Journey!

We were gifted with some lovely color
after the sun set this evening.

There was even a sliver of the moon in the afterglow.

I used the word "fun" several times to describe today and that is the perfect word, in my opinion to describe the day. It was a day filled with laughter, good conversation, and fun with friends. It was a good day, a day to be added to our book of wonderful memories!

A Step Back in Time For Our Memory Book
Our Move From Roadrunner BLM near Quartzsite to Ogilby Road BLM near Yuma

Tuesday, December 5, 2023

Up and moving early this morning my second cup of coffee was in my to go cup as I headed in to Moon Mountain Mail to, fingers crossed they were available, pickup my packages. They were ready, yay. After a quick call to Tom to let him know so he could pass the information on that our plan to leave today was a go I headed over to RV Lifestyles where I placed our order for the new microwave/convection oven and front burner for our cooktop. When I arrived back to our spot out at Roadrunner BLM the Igloo being pulled by the Dogsled with Deb and Riley inside was already on its way to our next destination.

Top photo: the Journey with Kim and Ken inside and the
Stinger "B" with Tom inside ready to leave.
Middle photo: our neighborhood now empty
Bottom photo: our view these past weeks of the
Dome Rock Mountains.

It was bittersweet leaving this place were we have enjoying many hours with friends. When Tom and I arrived on November 6, 2023 to this place that we would call home for the next four weeks we hoped the neighborhood would grow and our wish came true. Within in a few days the Dogsled could be seen coming down the road with Deb and Riley, On a long and lonesome highway....,  inside pulling the Igloo. Then Sue and Lorne, A Place Called "Away", could be seen in Percy coming to join us. Not to many days and we could see the Journey coming our way bringing Kim and Ken, Journey with Ken and Kim our way.
It was a lovely neighborhood with special friends. We enjoyed several Coffee Hours and Happy Hours together just chatting away. We even had a movie night, courtesy of Lorne and Sue, and a couple of camp fires. Patsy, Chillin' with Patsy, and Bill, On Our Way, came out and joined us for a couple of Happy Hours, the movie night, and a campfire making our circle larger and more fun.
Sue and Lorne left before the rest of us. They were off to continue their adventure which would eventually take them to a place in Mexico they will call home for several months this winter.
Patsy and Bill are all snug in a lovey RV Park in Quartzsite they are calling home this season.

As for the rest of us...well that story is below:

A last view of the sleeping Indian for awhile.

On US-95 heading South
One of two pictures I have taken and posted several times.

This and the one above are my favorite views on this ride.

Some of our last views of the majestic Saguaros for a while.

The "guns", another picture I have taken and posted several
times, at the entrance to the road to the Yuma Proving Grounds.

A round a corner and we can see the beginning of
agricultural fields.

Then we were in a construction zone.

I just liked the look of this tree.😊

Going by the agricultural fields along US-95 in the Yuma area.

The work in these fields never ends.

St. Thomas Catholic Indian Mission.
Tom and I have attended Mass here several times over the
years. It is a beautiful little mission church.

California

 The Stinger "B" passed a vehicle...lol

Then........coming out of the California Fruit and Vegie
Inspection Station she picked the wrong lane and they passed
her. We are counting this as a pass though because she makes
so few and we do not want her to feel like we doubt her power....
💛LOL💛

The Imperial Sand Dunes ahead and we are almost to our exit.

On Ogilby Road and the top and bottom photos are of the Cargo
Muchacho Mountains with the Ogilby Hills in front of them.
This is what we thought the whole desert would look like.
Lots and lots of sand.

Ogilby road is slowly disintegrating back into the sand.

We set up and then sat down for Happy Hour with Deb, Riley,
Kim and Ken. Together we chatted and watched the sun set
on what was a good travel day to our new home.
The afterglow brought some light color to the sky.

I am not sure how this day unfolded but I am sure we enjoyed Happy Hour with our neighbors. The only pictures I took were of today's sunset.

What do you see?
Could that be a deer peeking out over the bush in the distance.

A beautiful afterglow to end our day.

Today Kim and I went shopping. We both like to spend time looking and looking at stuff neither of us are in a rush so we are good shopping companions. No one would describe us as going in getting what we need and out shoppers. A visit to Marshals and Hobby Lobby were excellent choices for that browsing and then there was a quick stop at Walmart to pick up a few things. Lunch at Five Guys was also a part of our time away. I had a fun time and we arrived home to join our spouses and friends, the in get what you need and out shoppers, for Happy Hour. No pictures were taken today I was to busy having fun and enjoying the company in this place we are parked in the desert.

I am now once again caught up...for now...lol

We are glad you stopped by!
If you have time to leave a comment we would enjoy hearing from you.
