Spending Time With Friends

(Clicking on the pictures will open them larger in a new window.)

Sunday, March 19, 2017

Sunday was one of those days you look back on and say, it was a good day. We started the day, like so many others, sitting outside on our "patio" looking out at the beautiful desert and mountains in the distance. To begin the day feeling the cool breeze and the warm sunshine with a mug off coffee is pure enjoyment.

While I was sitting out this morning I noticed the moon was still hanging
out. The little white half dot in the blue is the moon.

I started the day so slowly that I did not even have the breakfast dishes done when our friends Linda and Len arrived. We spent two months at Saddle Mountain in Tonapah, AZ last winter and we were lucky enough to be parked next to this wonderful couple. Linda and I kept in touch with the goal of crossing paths this winter and Sunday we finally made it happen. It was so great to see them and we spent our time talking and catching up. We will be closer to where they are in the next couple of weeks so the goal is to get together at least one more time, two would be even better, and we are definitely looking forward to doing just that.

As they were getting ready to leave, I mentioned we missed looking out and seeing the "duck". ( The travel trailer they were living in last year had a decal of the University of Oregon Duck on the back and whenever we walked out our door it was the first thing we saw. They are from Oregon which explains the "duck".)  Anyway, they now have one on the back of their truck and it triggered the thought to take a picture before they took off, so it had to be with the "duck".

It is amazing the wonderful people we have met on our "adventures". The relaxing atmosphere and unhurried lives we all now live makes for wonderful days and the enjoyment of just spending time together. (I have said it before and probably will again. Tom and I feel so blessed that we are able to live this life at this time in our lives.)

We spent the rest of our day pretty much just sitting out and relaxing. Ending the day watching the sun go down behind the mountains and the light fade to darkness. It was a "Good Day".

The sun has slipped behind the mountains.

The colors turned quickly from gold to pink.

The last bit of light before darkness descends on the desert.

The lights of Quartzsite twinkle in the distance.

Just as we were deciding to go in a young man pulled up in front of us on a motorcycle. After shutting if off he said he was lost and was looking for La Posa South. Tom told him he had found it. Ends up he was from the Grand Rapids area in Lower Michigan...small world as they say. Tom then gave him directions to the front entrance and we listened to the sound of his motor fade away into the distance.

because life's a beautiful thing
and there's so much to smile about."
