Golden Clouds in the Sky

 Wednesday, November 19, 2025

Today's pictures are brought to you by the beautiful sunset and the clouds floating by.

No explanation needed they speak for themselves. I finally went inside so I would stop taking pictures. Then I saw the last one through the window.

The sun was up before us but the moon had not yet set. So while I was waiting for my coffee to arrive I took a walk and snapped the picture below.

We took a short ride in the afternoon over behind the Dome Rock BLM there are a couple of gold mines in that area.

Bottom is I believe a Buckhorn Cholla and the top three
are "cuddly" Teddy Bear Chollas.

There are some beautiful views back there.

What was left of the red blossom on this Ocotillo.

Then we took a ride over by the Scaddan Wash BLM. I wanted to see if a particular saguaro, we had seen a couple years ago was still standing. Happily it was. It hangs out on a small patch of land between Dome Rock Road East, in front of Scaddan Wash, and I-10.

The hand is still there...😊

No pictures at all today though it would have been nice to have taken some especially at dinner. We enjoyed the fish special at the Mountain Quail Cafe with Patsy and Bill. A nice evening spent with good friends enjoying wonderful conversation and good food. Looking forward to more such moments.

After our first couple of days here we started turning our chairs towards the northwest in the morning so the sun is mostly behind us. It was still cool enough in the morning to enjoy sitting out but the sun was/is hot. Have I mentioned it was mostly in the low 90's high 80's when we first got here. Not complaining especially since it cooled down nicely as the sun was going down. It was wonderful sleeping with the windows open. Plus, the motorhome stayed fairly cool inside till around noon.

This was our morning coffee enjoying view.

I still remember sitting there by myself for a bit, Tom was busy inside probably preparing coffee...lol, thinking something I have thought about many times over our years of living this lifestyle. Just how lucky we are to be able to experience these moments in time. We know our choices of how we spend these years and where we spend them are not the same for every one but this place is one of our perfect places. But it is more than the place it is being able to live out our retirement dream together. We know to many that never made it to their dream or they did and it was cut short. If you are living yours I hope you feel as lucky and blessed as we do.

So I have no pictures for today. I do know we would have sat out for a bit and had coffee. Then we would have went to Mass. I am pretty sure we went out and had brunch afterwards. I am going to guess the rest of the day was just spent relaxing and enjoying the day.

So we were up before the sun this morning and as we sat outside I took these pictures and put them into a collage to share with my siblings. It took me a while to figure out what I hit to have it come out like this but I sort of liked so I decided to share it here, also.

I mentioned we have two hummingbirds visiting our feeder. The one we see the most is this one. He spends a lot of time across the way on top of this bush looking over here before he flies on down for a sip or two and then right back up on his perch.

We joined some special friends, Melissa and Lyle, for a late lunch today at Silly Al's. Though we pretty much stay in daily contact it had been several months since we had seen them in person. The conversation was nonstop and lively. They are boondocking out in the desert not to far away in their special place. We are looking forward to spending more time together over the winter months. (A picture would have been nice but no, no picture was taken. I have got to get better at this.)

The last of the sun on what has been a
very good day.

Today is Veteran's Day and I did do a blog about that and that it is Remembrance Day in Canada. But it is certainly worth repeating here. Thank you for your service, we will never forget.

There is that view again and we are enjoying it and our coffee.

Lately he seems to like spending time on the opposite side of
the feeder from us. That is one straight bill.

The lovely sunset.

There was a little bit of color in the sky after the sun left for the day.

Tom's Veteran's Day Display!

We are enjoying all the moments, we hope you are, also.

If you have enjoyed the pictures I have put out there
or the words I have added that makes me smile.
If you have time to leave a comment they are always special to read.
No matter what I am glad you stopped by!

Our Neighborhood Expanded, Time Spent with Friends

 Friday, November 17, 2023

It may sound strange but even with the highway noise in the distance and an ATV starting up somewhere nearby. There is a quiet in the early morning desert. Because we have a hummingbird feeder out I do hear them flying back and forth but still none of these noises interfere with the quiet softness that is the desert at this time just before the sun comes up. Once the brightness fills the area the sounds become more distinct but until then there is quiet that cannot be explained adequately with words it needs to be felt and this is my favorite time of the day.

A slight pink in the sky above the Dome Rock Mountains
to the west of us in the early morning light.

Looking out towards the southwest I could just see
our stars and stripes above the trees.

Our neighborhood just before the sun made
an appearance above the Kofa Mountains.

The sun coming up on our day.

Standing by the feeder I heard the distinct sound of  a hummingbird.
I looked down and I felt like it was posing for a picture.

The temperature was slightly chilly, 47 degrees, when I stepped out this morning but as I write this it is headed in the right direction, 57 degrees. The sky is blue and as the sun came up there were a few clouds on the horizon. There are friends parked nearby. It is going to be a beautiful day in the desert near Quartzsite, Arizona.

The sun kept trying to make an appearance through the clouds during the day and sitting out at times I could see blue along the edges but I never took any pictures. More times than not I get caught up in the enjoyment of the moment and do not think about taking a picture until the moment is long past. Like while I am typing this I wish I had taken more pictures.

I am sharing this picture from this morning a
second time it was my favorite.

Just before 2 o'clock this afternoon this motorhome pulled
into our neighborhood with Kim and Ken inside.

It was wonderful to see them coming our way. It has been several years since we last saw them and we are looking forward to doing some serious catching up.

After some hugs and glad to see you's it was time to sit down and let them park their home in the neighborhood.

After they were parked they joined Deb, Riley, Tom and I and "Happy Hour" began. It was not to long and we saw Black Beauty bringing Patsy, Bill, and Gibbs our way followed by Elva and Jerry in Elva's Silver Jeep. Soon Sue and Lorne walked over along with Archie to join the group. What a fun couple of hours filled with conversations and laughter. At some point the clouds parted and the sun started to shine down on our group. The time flew and soon everyone was saying so long for today. I wish I had taken pictures but Patsy, Chillin' with Patsy, did. Thank you, Patsy.

The sun dropping below the mountains to our West.

Not long after we had a beautiful afterglow light up the sky

pink, gold, and hints of orange

It was a wonderful day at Roadrunner BLM. We gained some new neighbors and friends came out to spend Happy Hour with all of us parked on this pad in the desert. Another day to record in the pages of our Memory Book!

We are so glad you stopped by!
If you have time to leave a comment we would enjoy hearing from you.
