Our Non-Moving Day

Wednesday, January 27, 2021

So the day started out quite nicely. We got up to sunshine and blue skies and even though the temperature was a little chilly at 39 degrees, seriously no complaints. We know what real cold is. Even though there were things we want to get done today there was no big rush. We enjoyed our coffee and an early lunch our goal was to pull out around 1 o'clock to go take care of dumping the black tanks and fill our fresh water tank. In between we started to get things ready for a move. Even though it is a short one I still like to get things off of shelves and stored especially when Tom is in here alone. When I am along I can at least get up and catch things...😊

We discussed the "plan"  while enjoying our morning coffee. Once Tom was on his way I would take a ride out to see if either of the two spots we wanted to move to were available. If the spot we really wanted to park in was open I would just park put out our chairs and wait for him to return. The back up plan, if this did not work out, involved me taking a ride to check out a couple of more places we had talked about and once Tom was done having his fun at LaPosa South he would just park and wait to hear from me. All sounds pretty cut and dry does it not?

With everything done Tom started the engine and hit the button to retract the leveling jacks. Nothing and I mean nothing happened. So he started the troubleshooting, checking the fuse etc...there is a list. Nothing worked so then he started making phone calls  to get some help from someone who hopefully could fix our problem. One guy would not come out to BLM land, another does not work on hydraulic jacks, another's machine said leave a message but also said he was backed up a week with jobs. By then it was getting late and we did need water so Tom headed in to get that. Tomorrow he will make a couple more phone calls including one to hopefully find someone to come out and pump out our black tank. So that is the short version of today's fun.

One nice thing in all of this our neighbor came over to see if there was anything he could do to help. Then later stopped back to see how things were going.  A nice gentleman who as he left turned and said, if there is anything I can do just ask. Living this lifestyle as any of you who have read this blog for a while know was our retirement dream. One of the best but unexpected things about this lifestyle has been the wonderful people we have met along the way.  Some have become what we hope will be lifelong friends. Others like this gentleman have just come in our lives for a moment but all have reaffirmed how many truly wonderful people there are in this world.

So no pictures were taken all day then around 5 o'clock I decided to take a short walk and the pictures below are from that walk. Just some fun pictures from around our site.

Taken with the Photo Illustration Effect on my camera.

Sometimes using the Photo Illustration Effect is a fail.
Today I did like this one and the one above.

As I sat this evening watching the sun set I looked across at
this Saguaro standing tall looking at the same sunset.

Shirley, this picture is for you.

Full Moon looking down at us as the sun's light left our day.

A Grey Monday Then Blue Skies on Tuesday

Monday, January 25, 2021

It rained over night and was still raining this morning when we got up. I took the first picture out the door. The next ones after that I ventured out once the rain stopped.

I could see the small wash near the Saguaro moving.

There were definitely puddles in the desert.
Though they never last to long.

Later in the morning the wind joined us.

As you can see from the pictures the wind keeps
the sky surrounding us changing quickly.

This afternoon we decided to take a ride over and check out the spot we would prefer to be parked in and, of course, there is someone parked there. Though we did find a spot close by that one we liked so fingers crossed one is open when we come back after we dump and take on water on Wednesday. It started to rain so we took a short ride. The plan had been after checking out the spot Tom would let me off West of where we are presently so I could walk back with the wind at my back but I really did not care to walk in the rain. Once we got back the rain had stopped so he drove out a ways and I was able to get a short walk in. The pictures below are from that walk.

Almost home, I can see the Stinger "B" not to far ahead.
I just made it back as a light rain started.

It was a chilly day today, the real feel said
45 degrees. Walking with the wind behind me
kept the walk pleasant. Glad I made the effort.

As the sun was setting this evening it brightened up the sky

and desert floor around us.

The sun is making its way down on our day.
Even though we did not see it much today it did
make a nice appearance before leaving for the day.

Pictures from today's walk.

Leaving the Stinger "B" behind.

I know he is blurry and that is because I did a lot of cropping
to be able to see him. He was a very tiny little lizard.
The arrow is pointing to where I spotted him in the bottom photo.

Teddy Bear Cholla.

I had started out on my walk today heading towards the East and made a wide circle turning North for a while. When I finally turned West I was not sure how far I was from home. I was glad when I crossed  over to the road I knew would lead me to the Stinger "B" to be able to see it in the distance.

After I got back to the Stinger "B" we took a short drive. We finally saw some Quail and I got this one peering in the water.

We pulled back in just as the sun was
slipping behind the mountains.

Tomorrow we will be moving to take on water and dump our tanks. Not quite sure were we will land afterwards though we have a couple of ideas. Fingers crossed no one else has the same idea.

We are glad you stopped by!

Two Days in January

 Saturday, January 23, 2021

Bloggerfest has been on the last Saturday during the "Big Tent" in Quartzsite for the last several years. Today was that day. Last year we had said if we were in the Quartzsite area we would attend. Paula had put it out on her blog, In the Shadows, that she would be at the shelter in La Posa South at 1 o'clock on Saturday, so we headed over. We had mentioned joining us to two new friends who do not blog but read several of the blogs and we were glad to see them pull up. It ended up that the number in attendance was six, four bloggers and two friends. We still enjoyed some nice conversation. As we said our see you next times we all agreed if we are in the area we would be there next year. Hopefully it will be a year that more bloggers are in the area to join us.

On our way.

Turning into La Posa South.

Being a little early we took a slight detour.
Looks very empty in these two spots this year.

Not as many Bluebirds across the way.

The bridge over the wash going back
to the shelter has been replace.

We can see Paula and Doug talking as we pull up.
This unfortunately is the only picture I took.
Doug, Miss Adventure Travels, did take a couple if you
are interested. The six people who attended were:
Paula, Doug, Cathy, Shane, Tom and I.
Thank you, Paula for keeping the Bloggerfest going.

After we left the Bloggerfest we headed over to the Tent. Tom had brought our hitch over in the morning to be serviced so we did need to pick it up. We then headed over to Gem World there were a couple of things I wanted to pick up. After that we headed home.

What I did catch of tonight's sunset was behind the clouds.

The lovely Saguaro out our door in the last of the day's light.

The next time I looked West the sun
had dropped behind the mountains.

Sunday, January 24, 2021

We had rain late Saturday evening and a few times overnight but we opened the curtains to blue sky in between clouds this morning.

A little after 1 o'clock when we were heading out
it looked like it was raining to the west of us.

I just liked the clouds

along with the sun

and the mountains in these pictures.

Today's destination was just off of Palm Canyon Road to
visit Cathy and Shane. They found a great spot with
wonderful views to spend some time.

One of their views.

As we left Palm Canyon we made a quick stop to say hi
to Doug and Yuma who are also parked out in that area.
As you can see they have a similar view.

The sun setting from Doug's spot in the desert.
It was a good day for our memory book.
