Beautiful Clouds Filled Our Day

I have probably three catch up posts to finish but today's post is about yesterday's clouds. Cloud pictures that exist because we took a ride over to Tombstone to have lunch with Elva and Jerry at Big Nose Kate's. I think most of us who blog or anyone who has read George and Suzie's Blog  have heard about this place and enjoyed spending some time there mainly because George always made it sound like a place that would be fun to visit. Tom and I have stopped at least once a year, if not twice, to enjoy a nice lunch and the entertainment. This was Elva and Jerry's first time and what luck, for those of you that have been there, we got the table to the left as you walk in and up a couple of stairs.  Good food and even better company and for the first time since we have been going to to Tombstone I realized when we got home I had not taken one picture while we were there. I am going with what Elva said when I texted her about it, we were to busy talking. It was definitely a fun time and the memory will last even without a picture. 

It had been raining on and off pretty much since Tuesday evening but we decided to tough it out and go as planned. We did have rain drops on the windshield as we drove over and it was still windy and cold when we stepped out of the Jeep but the rain had stopped. After lunch we parted ways we had some shopping to do in Sierra Vista and Elva wanted to take a ride up to see the Linear Garden at the top of the hill that Nancy, Kissack Adventures, has mentioned in her blog. It is a fun and quirky collection of "stuff" and definitely worth the ride up the hill. Another visit we make every year just to see what has been added. Plus, the views of Tombstone are excellent from up there. 

That all being said, what follows is a collection of pictures of today's clouds. Not much more to say about the clouds in my opinion they are beautiful and speak for themselves. 

Leaving Quail Ridge looking North towards 

the Whetstone Mountains.

Looking toward Huachuca City the sky is completely grey.

Looking ahead as we drive East on AZ-80.

Off in the distance we can see sunlight on the highway.

The Dragoon Mountains in the distance.

Then there are cottonwoods in the distance

which means we will soon be crossing 

the San Pedro River.

We have now turned onto AZ-80.

Leaving Tombstone and seeing patches of blue sky

and I believe those are the Tombstone Hills.

This is Charleston Road and will bring us into Sierra Vista.

Now we can see the Huachuca Mountains 

in the distance ahead of us.

This was my favorite picture today.

This is looking right as we head towards Sierra Vista.

More Cottonwoods as we cross 

back over the San Pedro River.

We would look one way an the sky was cloud filled

then another and the blue sky would be peaking through.

Finished shopping we are now on AZ-90 headed home.

One last look at the Huachuca Mountains for today.

Going through Huachuca City and looking at the

Whetstone Mountains in the distance.

One last picture to the East as we headed home.

It was one of those special days to be tucked into our memory book as we continue to realize how blessed we are to spend time with wonderful people as we live our retirement dream.

A Quick Tombstone Visit and Checking out the Linear Garden.

Well we did not leave today though we did take a short drive to the west of us to ride through Las Cienegas National Conservation Area, tomorrows post. We did leave the park this morning for a 9 o'clock appointment to have the generator checked out, we had a leak that Tom could not get at. Turns out it was a loose hose connection. So that ended well. I had left a message with the park office saying we would be back to pay our electric bill and it turned out we had one more night. That was a nice miss calculation on my part because instead of getting a late start today we will get an earlier start in the morning. 

Tuesday, December 8. 2020

After lunch today we decided to take a short drive over to Tombstone and take a walk up and down Allen Street and then take a ride up the hill to check out the Linear Garden. It was strange how few people there were in Tombstone today. The only other time we have been there when it was this quiet was a couple of years ago at night. 

Heading East on AZ-82.

When you are on AZ-82 going East towards AZ-80 and

you see the Cottonwoods in the distance you know you are

getting close to the San Pedro River

No water to be seen from the bridge on AZ-82.

Coming into Tombstone on our left was the Butterfield

Stage Stop fully decorated for the Christmas Season.

The City Hall on Freemont Street was decorated, also.

The court house had a tree on the upper balcony.

All the lampposts were decked out and several of the 

stores had decorations out. Plus, there Christmas Tree is up.

Not sure if this cowboy was a bandit 

or wearing a masks as a sign of the times.

Then up the hill to check out the Linear Garden.

Still there and still quirky. 

Plus, when you are up there you get a nice view of Tombstone.

The Courthouse stands out in the distance.

As we left I took a couple more pictures of the Butterfield

Stage Stop they really go all out with decorations.

Plus, we went by this motorhome dressed as Rudolph.

Heading back home.
