Day Three and We are in Kansas

Friday, April 21, 2023

When we first started this journey north and east we had said we would do shorter days with a few longer ones thrown in. Today we went 111 miles and this is not quite what we had in mind when we talked about shorter days but it is was it is. Tomorrow is another day and we have plenty of time to get were we are going yet. Except for the wind gusting occasionally we spent a quite night at the Walmart in Guymon. Below are our views along today's route.

Continuing taking pictures of trees this is my favorite
in Kansas, so far.

It was well after 9 o'clock when we pulled out on to this
road of many numbers in Oklahoma

The scenery today you will notice is very similar to yesterdays.

I am guessing it was about 30 minutes or so and we were
crossing into Kansas. We went from being on OK-136 to KS-25.

We are on US-56

Farmers

hard at work.

With a town name of Hugoton this water tower's
picture needed to be taken.

Going down what I would guess is their main street.

A theater in Hugoton.

Now we are coming into Moscow, KS

and yes these

were

all in

Moscow, KS

After seeing several trains yesterday this was
all we saw today

There are some

hills in Kansas.

Satanta, KS

We are now on US-83 and will be for several hundred miles.

We saw several green, green fields today along
with the watering system you can see in the background.

I have no idea what this is. Do you? There were no signs.

I could see the water "sprinkling" the field.

We are coming into Garden City, KS

A close up of the above complex as we drove by.

We pulled into the Walmart in Garden City, KS just before noon and had lunch. Then we talked about our options after checking the wind forecast ahead of us. We looked at the miles we have left to reach our destination, which by the way is Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and decided to stay put for tonight. As of right now our plan is to stay on US-83 going north until we reach I-90 and then turn East. The next couple of days will tell the story as to how the plan works out.

We are glad you stopped by!
If you have time to leave a comment we would enjoy hearing from you.

  1. Okay that was a short day even by my standards. Lol. Mundane countryside but I bet it’s pretty when things are greener and taller, waving in the wind like a ripple on the water. Wave at Jim and Barb if you get near Custer, I believe they live in that vicinity. Continued safe travels.

    1. It definitely was a very short day but kind of nice to just sit and relax and take a walk. I even found some good sales in Walmart...lol We will not be that far west this time.

  2. Oh my gosh ... I can't believe you are going the exact same route I took. I remember all those grain silos. I could live there ... no close neighbors.

  3. Your moving right along. That dome is radar, for weather, I think.

    1. That would make sense that it is radar for weather, thanks.

    1. Okay that really makes sense that it is radar for tracking weather especially tornadoes considering the area we were going through. Thanks.
