Beautiful Skies Above The Roadrunner BLM

Wednesday, March 4, 2026

We are sitting and drinking our coffee as our day begins to unfold around us. As I sat  finishing this blog, I had started writing last night, I could see the sun light on the mountains so I stepped outside to capture some pictures. No special plans for today, at the moment, we will see what the day brings.

The days have been floating by softly while we have been enjoying the quiet of this place parked with friends. This spot seems to draw us in since we first found it eight years ago. That first time we were parked across the wash we can see out our front window from where we are presently parked. Ken and Kim parked by us for a few days that first year, also.  We have parked other places out here, at Roadrunner, throughout the years when someone else has found this spot before us but if it is open it is where we are. The best part is looking out the door and seeing friends parked near by. This year Ken and Kim, who are also drawn to this spot, have been parked here way more than we have and I think Joan and Dave have, also. I will just mention here, we are a little jealous. But sometimes life pulls us in a different direction. One thing is certain it was great after spending a month at the Park Place RV Park to turn the last curve in the road and see their rigs with a place nearby for us to pull into. We have only been here about eight nights but from the first night we both felt the calm of this place surrounding us.

We have enjoyed Happy Hours with this group. Plus, Patsy and Bill came out and joined us for one since we have been here. We have watched the sky light up after the sun has left the day with beautiful colors of gold, pink, orange, and red. What I have missed is watching the sun slip behind the Dome Rock Mountains. I have only seen one sunrise but I did set the alarm and step out to see the "Worm Blood Moon" early this morning.

Below are a few of the pictures I took while Tom and I sat out early this morning watching as the earth's shadow slowly crept across the moon. As we sat there I mentioned I wish I would have gotten my good camera out but I did not and the pictures below were taken with my phone.

After lunch I drove in to Quartzsite to join the group of ladies for Pokeno at the Park Place RV Clubhouse. It is always a fun couple of hours filled with laughter and today I left with my penny collection still intact. Afterwards Tom came in with Kim and Ken and we enjoyed a nice Happy Hour outside Patsy and Bill's home. Around 5 o'clock we headed over to Silly Al's where we were joined by Joan and Dave for dinner. Good food, good friends, good conversation, and laughter how can you go wrong.

Arriving back home the sun had set and the sky looked dark.

The air felt perfect for sitting out and as we sat down the sky
lit up with color all around us.

As quickly as it came it was gone and the darkness started
to surround us. The sky filled with stars and we sat enjoying
the quiet for a bit before coming in.

Yes, there is a pattern as to the time most of the pictures below where taken.

The sky in the west and east after the sunset on February 25th.

Another pretty sky after the sunset on February 26th.

On the 27th I was up in time to catch the sunrise.

Later sitting out for Happy Hour
I could see this faint picture in the clouds.

The moon was rising the east and the clouds nearby
reminded me of feathers.

There was a beautiful afterglow

after the sunset on February 27, 2026

The sky to the east of us

ss the moon was rising on March1st.

The clouds were a beautiful rose color to the
south of us over the Kofa Mountains on the 1st.

Then on March 2nd after the sun slipped behind the Dome
Rock Mountains there was not much color one minute

and the next minute the sky literally lit up like fire.

The sky continue dto change and then slowly
the color began to fade.

The pink in the sky to the Northeast.

I started this blog, last night, by saying the days have been floating by softly. The hope is the rest of our time here will continue to do so. Some may question what we are doing and the answer would be living our life and enjoying all the moments. We would wish that for everyone and we would wish that for you who has just finished reading this blog.

If you have enjoyed the pictures I have put out there
or the words I have added that makes me smile.
If you have time to leave a comment they are always special to read.
No matter what I am glad you stopped by!
