The Wind Has Been Blowing (A Step Back in Time)

The sun setting on February 18, 2026

The sleeping Indian. I wonder what mountains this is part of?
I am thinking the Plomosa's just not sure.

Today, Tom decided to work on one of our door locks. We have two, a new one put in by RV Country to replace the one they had to drill out which does not work and we will be talking to RV Country about that one. There is also a deadbolt we have been having trouble with and that is the one Tom was working on. During the fun he was having he locked it while inside and it would not unlock. Yes, we were locked in. So I called Patsy and Bill came over to help. The key and tools were, of course, outside. Bill tried with the key and had no luck getting it open then he had to head home for a bit. Tom eventually went out the driver's side window to get the tools he needed and then came back in. By then Bill had come back and with his help they were able to get the deadbolt off, the door open, and then the deadbolt back on. The fun of owning a motorhome never ends....lol I have mentioned it before and I will probably repeat it in the future one of the best things we discovered about living this lifestyle is the friends we have made along the way. Friends, that never hesitate and, if at all possible, are there to help when you need it. Thank you Bill for coming over and helping us get out of the motorhome.

Today was Ash Wednesday the beginning of Lent and even though it is not a Holy Day of Obligation it is always nice to start this season by attending Mass. Part of today's tradition is having ashes placed on our forehead as the priest reminds us, "Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return."

Why Ashes? The ashes, made from last year's Palm Sunday palms, are applied in the shape of a cross as a public sign of faith and a call to turn towards God. This tradition has its roots in the Old Testament, where wearing ashes was a common sign of repentance for sins, and a sign of one’s humility before God.
Ashes hold deep spiritual meanings of mortality, repentance, and transformation, symbolizing that humans are made from dust and will return to dust, while also representing sorrow for sins, a call to spiritual renewal, and hope for resurrection or new life, particularly prominent in Christian traditions like Ash Wednesday. They signify humility, the finite nature of earthly life, and a desire for God's mercy and forgiveness.

We started today like so many enjoying our coffee and talking about things. The door locks are on our mind and plans for our time in Michigan this summer are key topics right now. A plan for the trek home is also being discussed but weather will determine that and until the time to head east is closer that plan will be up in the air.

I ended up taking a ride over to Parker to visit Walmart and pick up some needed groceries and the CVS for a prescription. While I did that Tom made phone calls and took care of some other things around the motorhome. The wind is not helping his progress because what he mostly needs to take care of is sorting under the motorhome and that is hard to do when the wind is moving things and the dust is all around you. He also was making phone calls about our door lock situation and hopefully this morning, Friday, brings the promised phone call to have a solution.

I saw this guy in the clouds on my way home.

The shadows from the clouds on the mountains always
strike me as beautiful.
The sign that says it all.

It was game night here at the clubhouse so I joined several other woman and we play Rummikub. I had only played it a couple of other times in the past but I must say it is a fun game. The one thing about game night here is it does not matter what game is played or winning it is just about a really good time. The place is filled with laughter and the kind of conversation that even if you do not remember what was talked about the memory of a good time will always be there. We will be leaving here Monday so it was my last night joining this group and I miss them and the laughter.

Today started with our coffee and a short talk with my sister and we came up with tentative dates for our siblings camping get together in the Upper Peninsula. As the day progressed the dates became reservations. Though, we will spend five days camping as a group that became a plan for a month for Tom and I. (Yay, one reservation in the books.)  In reality two other months are pretty much planned around where our grandchildren and their parents live and at least one month we will spend in Escanaba. It is now just a matter of firming up reservations which I will do next week.
In between phone calls I have been getting our wash done so when we head out to the desert on Monday we head out with clean clothes, towels, and sheets.
No progress on the door lock as of this writing. Though, Tom was in contact with them a couple of times today.
We did have some good news looks like we will have license plate tags for the motorhome in the near future. Maybe even before the ones we have expire at the end of February. The Jeep's, as they saying goes, are in the mail.

( A Short Step Back in Time, January 16 through February 10, 2026 )

My last "step back in time" we were leaving our site out on Plomosa Road near friends, Melissa and Lyle. Our new destination was just a few miles south to Roadrunner BLM to park near friends, Kim and Ken, and Joan and Dave. What I just realized is I never took a picture of the area with us all parked in it.

The sun had already set on January 16th when I took this picture.

Heading towards the "Big Tent" on January 17th.
By the end of this visit we had made a big change in our
living arrangements. At least we were pretty sure we had...😉

Coming back from Yuma on the 19th.. I saw these to guys heading
in opposite directions. You may or may not see them but I did...lol

The sky was filled with color as the sun set
on January 19, 2026

The sky in the afterglow held the color.

We could see, what ended up being, smoke from a fire in
California up near Lake Havasu, on our way into Quartzsite
on the January 20th.

As I mentioned in a previous post we left Roadrunner on the 23rd of January to pick up our new home and then on the 26th we moved into the Park Place RV Resort.

In our site at Park Place RV

Moving into February.

Happy Hour by Kim and Ken's home out at Roadrunner BLM
on February 8th. Left to right: Patsy, Tom, Dave, Bill, Ken,
Joan, Kim, and Gibbs sitting in the center.

On February 10th we invited our friends, Joan and Dave, Kim and Ken, Melissa and Lyle, Patsy and Bill, over for Taco Tuesday and we were glad they all showed up. We had chips and salsa, beer margaritas, tacos with all the fixings, plus refired beans and rice. Joan and Kim brought some snacks to share, Patsy brought a banana cream pudding (formerly known as a pie) which was delicious, Melissa brought a lovely fruit platter and her and Lyle provided a bottle of champagne. It was a special evening made special by the people who we sat, chatted, and laughed with. It was a way of saying thank you and we appreciate all the help and support during this time as we moved from one home on wheels to another. One or two pictures to add to this part of the blog would be nice but neither Tom nor I took even one picture. But the words are here and the memory will last pictures or no pictures.

So this is where I will end the "short steps back in time". I do have have some really big step back pictures I will be adding as time goes by. Those pictures will be all about memories for Tom and I but they will be there if you want to look. This last month has been a whirlwind of activity for us. Some of which I had pictures for some I did not. Some of this past month I remember other days I do not have a clue what we did. Now the goal is, of course it always is, to stay in real time

If you have enjoyed the pictures I have put out there
or the words I have added that makes me smile.

Checking Something Off My "Wish" List (A Look Back)

Sunday, December 14, 2025

When we first get up in the morning it always seems like those first few hours just slowly drift by. They are not in a rush to get going and neither are we. Then all of a sudden it is 10 o'clock and when it is Sunday that means we need to be ready and out the door in a little over an hour, Mass is at 11:30. Unless we are in the desert then we barely have an hour, it takes a little more time to make our way out of the desert to the road. Yes, there are times when we are those last minute scramble people.

After Mass we stopped at the Mountain Cafe for breakfast. Then we thought, lets take a little ride, we got as far as the LaPosa South LTVA before deciding neither of us really felt like a ride. So Tom turned the "Jeep with No Name" around and we headed home.

We had not been back home very long when we heard voices close by and when Tom looked out the door he saw that Patsy and Bill had moved their chairs in the sunny lot between us, Ken had just pulled up, Kim is off on her own adventure, so Tom moved our chairs into the circle. Happy Hour with this group is always fun and today was not exception.

I took this picture just because I liked the look of the sky.

Happy Hour with Ken, Patsy, Bill, and Tom

When I first saw this golden/orange glow out the window
I though it was pretty and it was.

Then it turned into a very pretty orange glow.

When we are in the Quartzsite Area we mostly attend Mass at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Mission here in Quartzsite. The Sacred Heart Parish Church in Parker is the main parish church and there are three missions connected to it. Our Lady Queen of Peace is one of them. There is also, St. John the Baptist Mission in Wenden and St. Kateri Tekakwitha in Poston. Once and awhile we have driven over the Blythe to attend Mass at St. Joan of Arc, or to Parker for Mass at Sacred Heart. Though we do enjoy attending Mass close by and we have found it to be a welcoming church community.

Our Lady Queen of Peace

Next to the church there are two areas with benches.
They are perfect places to sit, rest, and reflect.

I only took one picture today and it is of a flower I quilled on the front of a card. Quilling is something I have wanted to learn how to do for a few years and today thanks to Patsy I had my first lesson. Not to mention a very lovely time learning. She knew I wanted to learn how to quill, it might have been because I mentioned to her several times I was jealous she was able to take several classes last year...lol  So when she offered to take the time to show me how I was thrilled. So thank you Patsy and I am looking forward to the next time...😊 hint...hint...Actually no hinting needed she has already offered a second lesson.

Not to bad of a start and a little check goes
next to quilling. I say little because there is a
lot more to learn.

The sunshine is coming through our windows as I finish writing this on Tuesday morning the last few days have been fun and we are looking forward to what the day will bring. Personally, I am hoping to add not subtract from my penny collection today. I am relying on the third time being the charm...🤞

A Look Back at our family and life during the time I was not blogging.

While I was on Blogging Vacation we had two of our grandchildren make their First Confession and First Communion, Our oldest grandson was confirmed and in June our daughter was confirmed. We, also, had one Baptism.

Proud Parents

Happy Grandparents

To witness our children bringing up their children in the Catholic Religion like we raised them, we were raised, and the generations before us were raised is a true blessing!

We Are In Why, AZ.....(Catch Up Post)Dinner at the Black Pearl Restaurant at Pirate Den Resort, Campfire at Roadrunner

Tuesday, March 14, 2023

We moved to Why, Arizona yesterday and today is going to be a strictly do nothing type of day. This post and the next couple are going to include catch up posts. I was hoping not to use that phrase any more but it is what it is and I am who I am...😎

Our views as we sat out at Coyote Howls in Why, AZ
having our morning mug of coffee.

As the sun went down this evening there was a touch of
light on the mountains to the East.

The sun set behind the clouds this evening and I could  see
some light in the clouds but no color.

It was a quiet day here at Coyote Howls RV Park and we enjoyed the quiet.

(Catching Up)

Tuesday, March 7, 2023

Today we took a ride. We left Roadrunner going north on US-95 then merged on to I-10 going west. We took Exit 1 and headed North on Ehrenberg-Parker Highway eventually connecting to US-95 going north in California. Turning East at CA-62 we crossed back into Arizona where we turned North on AZ-95. Our end goal was the Black Pearl Restaurant at Pirates Den Resort on Riverside Drive in Parker, AZ. After dinner we headed South on AZ-95 which eventually connects back to US-95 in Quartzsite and then home to Roadrunner and the Stinger "B". It was an enjoyable ride and the pictures below tell the story of our day.

Driving through

the Dome Rock Mountains.

I do like this view as we are coming down out
of the mountains.

Heading North on the

Crossing the Colorado River

I believe these are the Riverside Mountains ahead.

We made a brief stop at Wyatt Earp's Cottage in Vidal, CA
for a couple of pictures. Friends, Cheryl and Dave, had
mentioned visiting here so we thought it would be a fun stop.

This is what is on the marker in front of the cottage.

Wyatt Berry Stapp Earp

Josephine Sarah Marcus Earp
1861 – 1944
Earp Cottage
Vidal, California
The legendary lawman, gun-fighter, gambler, businessman and miner along with his wife, Josephine, inhabited this "dream – come – true" cottage from 1925 – 1928. During the fall, winter and spring months, while he worked his "Happy Days" mines in the Whipple Mountains a few miles north of this site. This is the only permanent residence they owned in their long lives together.
Their ashes are buried in the Hills of Eternity Memorial Park, Colma, California
Erected 2002 by Billy Holcomb Chapter, E. Clampus Vitus. (Marker Number 108.)

Black Peak known by the locals as "P Mountain"
which is part of the Buckskin Mountains.

On AZ-95

going by/through a part

of the Buckskin Mountains.

We had dinner at the Black Pearl Restaurant at
Pirates Den Resort.

We were able to sit out on the covered part of the patio.
It was a little pricey but the food was delicious and we
will definitely go back again.

There were birds on the deck though they were not bothersome
and ducks swimming by on the river.

The sun was setting as we headed home

after what was a fun day.

Wednesday, March 8, 2023

This was our last full day parked out in the Roadrunner BLM for this our 9th Adventure. We do like it out here and will be sad to leave but at the same time are looking forward to what the road ahead brings. Tomorrow we will head south back to Ogilby Road and park next to Deb and Riley in the same spot we left just a little over three weeks ago and we are definitely looking forward to our time there.

Today was a day to start packing up and get ready for our move. I, also, went into Quartzsite to pick up a few things at Gem World and Coyotes Market. The plan for the evening was sitting out and watching the sunset, a nice dinner, and a campfire.

We are the only one left in our neighborhood and tomorrow
we will be gone.

Venus and Jupiter

Tonight's Campfire

This is a collage of three pictures. I was trying to show
how quickly the black inkiness of the desert takes over
in just a few feet.

First there was a glow over the mountains, bottom picture.
Then the moon popped up over the mountains, top picture.

It is always amazing to me just how much light the full
moon brings to the desert.

It was a beautiful night and we enjoyed sitting out near the fire. A perfect last evening in one of our favorite spots parked out in the desert in Arizona.

We are glad you stopped by!
