We decided to check out Sidewinder Road today. The goal was to find a boondocking site either closer to the Cargo Muchacho Mountains or the Ogilby Hills for the future. It is a pretty and peaceful area off of Ogilby Road and even though we are not sure when we will be back we are pretty sure we will be. So today we wanted to take a closer look around the area and see what was available that we could get the Stinger "B" into. Or maybe I should say, we are willing to get her into. We will not risk scraping her bottom, scratching her sides, or getting stuck no matter how much we like the site.

| By the time we decided to take the ride it was after lunch and we could see blue sky over the Mountains. |

| I added a telephoto attachment to my lens and I found what it did to the look of the mountains interesting. |

| We could see this sign and the two fenced in areas. So we had to stop and see what it was all about. We are guessing it is something you need to see from above. Interesting just the same. |

| Then we spotted a road that looked like it would fun to explore. |

| Back out on Sidewinder I spotted a whole field of Ocotillo. |
 |
| We turned right and could see I-8 ahead of us and then we spotted this off to our right. The two statues at the entrance were cherubs. |

| This same statue was straight ahead at the entrance and then on the right and left. All outside the circle. |
 |
| The Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Blessed Mother way over to the left out of the circle, also. |
There was nothing to explain what this was and it looked like it had been there a while. When we got to the museum we asked and though they knew it was there no one knew what it was.

| When you come off of I-8 onto Sidewinder this is just little ways down on your left. |

| Then just a little bit farther this sign is on your right. |
We then turned onto the Center of the World Rd and came to the sign below. In the California Benchmark we could see a spot listed as the Official Center of the World. Our search has ended we have found the place.

| We put our $6.00 in the slot and went in. (I went to Catholic School and had nuns for 12 years there is no way we were not putting the money in the slot...lol) Side note: If you actually want to step on the spot, the Official Center, it cost another $2 a piece but that did include a short movie explaining about the museum, and a very nice tour guide who gave us more information about the History behind the Museum itself. We were committed and forked over the additional four bucks. |

| I had wanted to see this tiny Chapel up close since Patsy, Chillin' with Patsy, had posted a picture of it when they were parked across the highway at Pilot Knob. Today, we walked up the stairs and inside. Click above for a picture of the inside. |
