We Are In Michigan

 

Saturday, April 18, 2026 

As I start writing this morning I can hear the rain on the roof. You know that pitter/patter which sounds relaxing at first and then becomes the question of the day, when will it stop? We have been here four days and that question is about to be askes...lol Not to mention we are parked on grass and the ground is not as solid as we would like. So far no puddles are accumulating next to us so we are keeping our fingers crossed that today will be the last day of the rain. The weather guessers are saying tomorrow will be partly sunny and then we will have four days of sun. Again fingers crossed that they are right.

Presently we are parked at the Wayne County Fairgrounds and this is where we need to be for the foreseeable future. I would like to take a moment to thank each of you for your prayers. They are very much appreciated. I know I have not shared why we needed to be here or why we needed the prayers and I cannot do so. It is not my story to share. I can say it is about what is happening in our family and we would appreciate continued prayers.

Only one goose in the pond this morning as we pulled out.
Making our way to I-69 we went by a field of solar panels.
The middle picture is filled with wishes.
Redbud trees are in bloom and dark skies ahead.

Mostly dark skies ahead though once and awhile it seemed to
 brighten up. The middle picture was the sun shining on a field.

Then the  rain came down. 

We have crossed into Michigan.

We drove out of the rain shortly before we crossed into Michigan.

As we parked looking out the ground in front of us was filled with
Dandelions looking like little yellow spots of sunshine. 

As we traveled north the leaves on the tree are just starting to bud.

We have turned east on I-94.
With about 80 miles to go we are almost at our destination.

I thought this red barn was worth a picture. Then at the last 
second as we went by I saw and clicked the picture of the flag.

As we came into Ann Arbor we joined the traffic and we
would be in it for the last 18 miles or so to our exit.

Where we will be calling home for now.

This ends our 12th Adventure for 2025/2026. It certainly ended up being a different adventure for us this year. When we left Michigan last fall we never expected to return in a new to us motorhome. This past winter we spent more time parked in a RV Park then out in the desert and that was different for us. It was a good winter spent with friends and we look forward with hope to many more to come. 

These next months will be a time to spend with our children and grandchildren who live in this area. The plan also includes moving up to the Upper Peninsula for a short time, specifically Escanaba, where we are from. We need to off load some of the stuff we have in here that we do not have room for. More importantly we look forward to spending time with our family and friends that live up there and in Wisconsin. Then we will head back down here to spend more time with our children and grandchildren before heading to a warmer climate for the winter months. At least right now that is our hope and we are praying it all falls into place. Tom and I believe in the power of prayer and trust that God has a plan. We hope all of you reading this have a wonderful week filled with sunshine and time spent with those you love.

The Rest of Our Ride Back to Michigan

Today started dark and grey with a cold wind. The young man who would be putting our valances up knocked on the door a little after 7:00AM. We were expecting him and had just finishing our second mug of coffee when he knocked. As he started working, we left to get out of his way, and decided on breakfast at the Dutch Village. Afterwards we stopped at a place that had RV Supplies. Tom wanted to check to see if he could buy an extra set of locking bolts that keep the Jeep hooked to the motorhome and he was successful. After one other stop we took a slow ride around the area before heading back to the Stinger "B". When we got there just before noon the young man was finished and we had seven new valances in place.

We will be back here in July to have our Captain's Chairs recovered and that means we will be doing more exploring of this area and there will be more pictures...😎. For now we packed up, paid our bill, and pulled out of their driveway. After a brief stop at Showalter RV to have measurements taken to replace the gaskets around our two slides which we will also have taken care of in July we headed East.

I decided on one above the sink and I am glad I did.

Leaving Nappanee, IN we followed this Horse and Buggy
for a bit on US-6 heading East. The clouds are moving
and the blue sky is beautiful to see.

that took us through rural America. 

We traveled this route last April after we left Nappanee
with estimates for the work we wanted done.

At some point this afternoon we crossed into Ohio and I missed the sign. Our day ended in the Walmart parking lot in Bryan, Ohio.

Wednesday, April 20, 2022

Leaving Bryan, Ohio tonight we will sleep in Michigan.

I again tried to get this building with the tower in a picture 
with not luck. The tower is in the upper left. 

It always make me a little nervous when I see these in the 
distance not looking like there is a very high clearance.
As we get closer they look higher.

It is a dreary grey day and 

and the front windshield is very dirty.

Yet the views do capture my attention.

It is hard to tell in the picture but this barn was blue.

From what I could find out they bring in different musical acts
and rent it our for special occasions. 

Tom saw this and by the time I focused this was what I captured.

We passed by a lot of empty corn fields today. 

As I recall we saw some harvesting as we came
through in October.

Having just gone by the northwest corner of Toledo's traffic
we are now headed north on US-23.

We crossed into Michigan about 2:50PM and our stop for 
tonight is a RV parking area at Cabela's in Dundee, MI.

After 201 days we parked where we were the night before
we left Michigan for our 8th Adventure.

The day started with rain but soon the sky started to clear. Only 31 miles to our destination, the Wayne County Fairgrounds, so not a big rush this morning.

We are settled into our site which will be home for 11 nights as we spend time visiting with our son and his family. Lots of grandbaby hugs coming our way.

So after a quite night we pulled out of the Walmart in Bryan, OH. We headed a couple of miles south and then turned East on US 6.  Today's ride is only 88 miles and the RV Park we are headed for, Harbortown RV Resort near Monroe, MI, describes their sites as level and paved. We are feeling confident this park is going to work out. Again more money then we care to spend but we need a place to land for a couple of days before we head further north to the Michigan State Park we are booked at for eleven days.

We are on US 6 in Ohio heading East.

Then a head there was bridge construction. Two bridges to be exact. We
immediately thought of the two bridges driving into the Imperial Dam LTVA
in Arizona.  Those had been very narrow to get through and the barrels at the
end were over the lane one of which we hit. These two as you can see
were wide and and the barrels were place on the outside of the lane. 

Continuing on our way under lovely blue skies 

the one thing we noticed different from a few days ago
 the trees are just starting to bud

and there is not a lot of green to be seen out the window.

I cannot believe I actually got the picture.
I thought for sure I had missed the engine.

then again after merging onto I-75.

In no time we were going around Toledo.

Then the sign we have been waiting to see
and since we tow a Jeep I decided to include this one.

We are still about 470 miles from where we call home but
we have crossed into Michigan.

So ended our day. No sunset we were under grey skies but we are parked and have full hookups.

Our first day back in Michigan and we pretty much did nothing. Cleaned a little and did a couple batches of wash. Tom actually put up the Antennae and watched some television and neither of us could remember the last time we turned it on. It rained a little during the day but overall it was a relaxing day.

I went out near the time the sun was setting.
Out towards the east the clouds had made a swoosh.

Looking south there was a slight break in the clouds

and to the west just a little bit of pink just above the horizon.

I would rate today a good day.

Today we will make the trip up I-75 and connect with I-94 to reach our next destination in 92 miles and where we will stay for 11 days. During this time we will spend time with our son, daughter-in-law, and three of our grandchildren. The oldest will make his First Communion the Saturday after Easter and we feel blessed to be here to see it happen. Tom unhooked our utilities and just after 11 o'clock we were on I-75 heading north.

and there is the inevitable construction.

Passing St. Clair Shores we will back here tomorrow.

Having turned at our exit onto 26 Mile Road/Marine City Highway then onto
Marsh Road  we are remembering why we had said when we checked out
this park last fall this was not the best way to come. The longer route was
a better choice. Not "Hazel's" fault she gave us the two choices.

After turning right on to M-29 in a few miles we are at the park.

We are wondering if there is someone in the building during the summer.
We will find out when we head back this way in June.

Our next stop was at the Campground Host's site were we picked up a map of the sites and were to get water. There are several water faucets throughout the campgrounds the only problem is you cannot hookup a hose to any of them. The only thing they are good for is to fill up a jug which is pretty useless if you want to fill up a fresh water tank on a motor home. There is presently only one spot were you can hook up a hose and we had to go back out to the dump station just behind the above building to fill up our fresh water tank.  This is a decent park and the Stinger "B" has all her wheels on gravel so we will not be sinking into the grass. We have a 50 amp electric hookup, we can get water and use the dump station. The sites are tight and from what we can see it is a popular place for families. One last thing which is not an issue this stay, and we will make a note for future reference, from what we can tell we are in the only site without a fire pit or picnic table. In the future not being able to have a fire with our grandchildren here would not be fun. Once it stops raining and the weekend people pull out we will be taking a walk around looking at the various sites and making notes. I did already check out the site we have reserved for June and we will have a fire pit and picnic table. So in the end this may not be a perfect park but it works for what we need and it is only about 40 minutes north of our family. I think we will be happy here and our grandchildren will enjoy coming to visit and staying with us in the summer.
