Turned a Corner

Today was a much better day. I slept through the night and was up before Tom and the sun. (I am thinking the whole Vicks thing works.) After a few minutes I could see some light outside so I bundled up in my shawl and was out the door. It was our second morning here and I was not missing another sunrise.

There was some color in the eastern sky.

Towards the west the clouds were a
lovely pink. The small white dot upper
left was the moon.

Then the sun popped over the mountains.

My first desert sunrise on this our 4th Adventure and I was not disappointed. The air was somewhat chilly so I headed back inside. By this time Tom had started the coffee so we drank our coffee and slowly started our day.

Tom decided, with a little prodding, that it would be a good idea to clean the inside of the Jeep. Even though the outside is dusty he did get the salt and grime from leaving Michigan washed off back in Tucumcari. What had not been done was the inside. With the generator running he was able to vacuum the rugs and wipe down the seats inside. We have grandchildren so there were some food crumbs and the backs of the seats were a little dirty from their boots. So the Jeep may be dusty on the outside but the inside is clean and shiny.

Well Tom was busy cleaning the Jeep, as long as the generator was running, I took advantage of being able to cook some vegetables in the microwave and made some Cheesy Broccoli Soup. Plus, I put together an egg bake for tomorrow's breakfast. On a roll I decided to put together a meatloaf for tonight's dinner. I checked out George's meatloaf recipe,  Our Awesome Travels, to see how he cooked it on the Weber. I then put together my recipe, wrapped it in tinfoil, set it in the fridge for a little over the hour he suggested, then Tom cooked it and the results are below. It actually turned out pretty good and Tom enjoyed it. I am not a meatloaf lover so tonight's meal was enough for me. Tom really likes meatloaf so I try to make it once and awhile and he will get at least two more meals out of this one.

Tonight's sunset was behind the clouds.

I did catch a little bit of sunlight as it peeked out between the clouds.

There was a little bit of color off to the north just on top of the mountain dips.

It slipped behind the mountains never making another appearance
but the clouds were beautiful.

  3. Happy to hear you're feeling better, Deb. Tom has will power cleaning the inside of the Jeep. Mine is getting dirtier by the day. A lot of dust around here.

Loved your photos, even on an overcast day.

    1. Thank you, Doug.
Well Tom had some "prodding" to get it done. I know it will be dusty again in no time but at least the little white footprints are off the back of our seats.

Thanks for saying you loved my photos. Considering how beautiful yours always are I will take that as a compliment, for sure.
