Fifty-Two Years and Enjoying The Christmas Lights at the London Bridge

Monday, December 13, 2021

Today we celebrated Fifty-two years of marriage. The wonder is how fast the time has gone by between December 13, 1969 and today. The blessing is we are both still healthy and celebrating as we continue to enjoy our Retirement Dream.

More then once over the years we have talked about how lucky we have been. No we are not rich by any means but we have always had a nice place to live, been able to pay our bills, and keep food on the table. We were able to give our children a decent lifestyle with some vacations thrown in, They in return have blessed us with nine grandchildren how special is that.

When we started out as a married couple the future stretched out in front of us for what seemed like forever and the conversations were about that future and our plans for it. The possibilities were endless. Then children came along and life became busier then we could imagine but it was a good busy. The future still stretched endlessly ahead but now included the endless possibilities for our children's future. Then came the time, and we have been there for awhile, when we came to realize just how precious all the days ahead were. Life itself slowed down yet the days themselves starting flying by.  The future itself was not something to take for granite and the realization is that things can change in a heartbeat. You quickly realize that each day is a gift to be opened and enjoyed for itself and lived to its fullest. Blessed and lucky is how we feel as we celebrate 52 years together and being able to say we are living our dream.

This is the 8th Anniversary we have celebrated since embarking on this Adventure. The first one we celebrated in Texas at Corpus Christi State Park ,  number two we were parked in Tucson and took pictures at sunset at the Saguaro National Park, the third year we were in Florida having found our new home the Stinger "B" just three days before. Our fourth and fifth years of this Adventure we were still in Escanaba for our anniversary and like the day we were married there was snow on the ground. The Anniversary we celebrated during our  Sixth Adventure was our 50th and we enjoyed the day not far from where we are parked as I write this and the day ended with a campfire. Last year we were near Ajo, AZ parked out on Darby Well Road next to Doug and Yuma, Miss Adventure Travels, and we spent a lovely day taking a ride through the Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument with them. How we celebrated this year follows below.

Leaving Roadrunner BLM to begin our day.
I just loved the way the mountains in front of us looked.

We have passed through Parker and this part of the ride

through these mountains is beautiful.

Going over the Bill Williams Memorial Bridge.

Lake Havasu City has a wonderful sign.

Lake Havasu in the distance.

We have passed through Lake Havasu City
and there above I can see the hand waving.

We are coming up on Ft. Mohave, AZ

What a great Lane to live on.

Tom had done some research and came up with a Mexican
Restaurant called Agaves for lunch.
It was a small quiet place and the food was good.
The Margaritas were pretty good, also...😊

After lunch we did some shopping. I wanted to stop at JoAnn Fabrics and we also both wanted to make a stop at Kohl's.

The sun was starting to set as we made our way back
south to Lake Havasu City.

We are now heading east on I-40 and there was some
faint pink in the sky ahead of us.

The top picture I took as we headed north.
The middle one was the sky to the west of us as we
passed the waving hand going south.

The main reason we took this ride today was to see
the London Bridge Resort's Festival of Lights.
After a quick stop at Hobby Lobby that was our destination.

The lights of the bridge go from green to red

in different patterns.

The reflections of the lights on the water add to the beauty.

The shops and the trees are filled with lights.

It is our anniversary so selfies need to be taken.

The changing colors of the bridge and the white sparkling
trees on the roadway all add to the beauty.

We tried but we never did get one with the
bridge red or green in the background...lol

I did mention "selfies".

Lots of ducks in the light's reflections.

They had a machine on top with "snow" falling down.

The entrance.

One last selfie as we left.

We then drove across the London Bridge

to stop in at the Barley Brothers Brewery for a quick
bite before heading home. We were able to sit by the
windows and watch the bridge change colors as we ate.

Today was a perfect day!

We are glad you stopped by!
If you have time to leave a comment we would enjoy hearing from you.

  8. Happy Anniversary!!!!! Your thoughts echo mine, time moves swiftly and we need to enjoy each day without rushing thru for tomorrow as tomorrow does not always hold good things for us, so we should enjoy each today while we can.
I really enjoyed the photos, very festive. Keep having fun.
