A Quiet Sunday and Moving Day Monday

Sunday, March 5, 2017

We decided last night, except going to Mass in Quartzsite, we were not moving and that is exactly what we did.

On our way into Quartzsite this afternoon instead of taking our usual route out to Plomosa Road we decided to take one of the roads over a couple of pads and dry washes.

As I mentioned  a couple of posts back, Plomosa Road is the first place we officially boon-docked back in 2015 in the Crusader. I think that is part of the reason we love parking out here. (We had spent some "one-nighters" in Walmart parking lots but we do not count those as boon-docking.)
Anyway, we had looked a couple of times but could never find the spot we parked that first time. Then leaving today I spotted what looked like the Saguaro I remembered and as we got closer there were the stacks of stones Tom remembered. Plus the ruts we made pulling out because we had parked to close to the wash and it rained. (Lesson learned and thank goodness for four-wheel drive.) So now we have made a note as to where it is and maybe next time, if no one else is there, we will park the Stinger B in that spot but not as close to the wash this time.

Our first boon-docking site.

As we turned onto 95 to head into Quartzsite we could really see
the dust hanging over the mountains.

Today we moved from our quiet spot out on the La Posa Plain just off of Plomosa Road. We were going to move over to the Bouse Community Park for these two days but then we realized we really needed to add propane and diesel into the Stinger B. That meant we would need to drive into Quartzsite,  back out past where we had been parked, and over to Bouse about a 50 mile trip. So we did some checking and we are now parked in Quartzsite at the Shady Lane RV Park with full hookups. We love parking out in the desert but having unlimited water when taking a shower is quite nice.

I was following Tom and the Stinger B today as we left our desert home and made our way over to the RV park.  (Pictures of the move and yes, I stopped to do so...for the benefit of my children whom I am always telling you should not be doing anything else when you are driving.)

Leaving our desert home behind.

  1. Looks like a short move for you. Enjoy your stay with unlimited water. Soon, I will be looking for an oasis in the desert like that.

    1. It was one of our shorter moves and the unlimited water for a couple of days is great.

  2. Enjoy more fun times there in Q. Hooks up is nice but we have been boon docking for so many years really conceive all the time even with hookups. One of the best things we did years ago was invest in an Oxygenics shower head, more pressure and uses less water with a shut off valve. They had them at Rv Lifestyles in Q.

    1. We had that shower head in the 5th wheel and need to exchange the one in the motor home yet. The funny thing is even with unlimited water we still find ourselves conserving.
