A Day of Rain and A Day of Sun

(Clicking on the pictures will open them larger.)

Tuesday, January 15, 2019

Today it rained and rained. The desert was filled with puddles and the small washes in our area had water running through them. For the most part we spent the day inside. During one slow down I took a quick ride into Quartzsite to visit Hardies Beads to pick up some supplies. I have to admit I have now replaced buying material with beads. One good thing they take up less space.

When the rain finally stopped for the day I put on my shoes and went for a walk around the area we are parked at. Right now we are a group of  5 rigs parked together and though we have just met 2 of the couples we can already tell the days ahead are going to filled with lots of fun moments.

The rigs left to right: Rose & George, Patsy & Bill, Suzie & George,
The Stinger "B", and Pat & Rob.

There is one Ocotillo by us.
Hoping for tiny green leaves soon.

Walking around there were still some signs of the rain that had
descended on us from the evening before.

The blue sky was making every effort to show up.

Some people think there is no green in the desert.

As the sun was setting everyone came out to take a picture so we did enjoy a brief chat before everyone headed back in for the evening.

The sun making an appearance just before it dropped behind the mountains.

The sun light touching the mountains to the east.

The sun is gone but the light is still with us.

Today the sun was shining as we opened the shades and we could see blue sky. We enjoyed our coffee and then Tom took a ride into Quartzsite to take care of some banking business and pick up a couple of groceries. I made almond cream cheese pancakes and fried up some bacon while he was gone. (I am not sure whose recipe it is. When I wrote it down I failed to write whose it was but thank you. Low carb and good.)  He arrived back just as I finished so we enjoyed brunch before going out to have "fun" organizing the other half of the basement. It is now done. After we finished Tom set up our outside patio.

Then it was time to join the people below in the middle of our "circle" at Happy Hour.  A very nice way to bring our day to a conclusion sitting and chatting with friends.

Hopefully at the next Happy Hour I will be able to get everyone in one clear picture.

Left to right: Patsy, Bill, Rob, Pat

to continue: George, Suzie, Tom, and my chair.

The sun setting on our day.

The mountains to the east  as the sun sets on our day.

Two days spent very differently one inside and one outside, both special.
We are glad you stopped by for a visit.
If you have time to leave a comment we would enjoy hearing from you.

    1. I had to chuckle reading your comment. I think because you make quilts you are the one with patience. Matching up all the corners would drive me crazy...lol

  5. Two very different days indeed! Nothing quite like the desert after a rain, it some how looks squeaky clean and yet doesn't quite smell that way.
Happy hour looked fun and busy. I'm sure you and the others will have many good times over the next while.

    1. Happy Hour with this group is always fun and busy and we enjoy it.
I know what you mean about the desert after a rain everything sparkles. I especially enjoy watching the small washes come to life. Though the road by us was pretty muddy even today...:)

  6. The desert may really bloom now after the rain. It'll keep the dust down too!
Keep enjoying. Wish we were there.

    1. I know two years ago they got a lot of rain out here in January and there were a lot of flowers. Plus, in places it looked like there was a green carpet on the floor of the desert. Wish you were here, too, yet from reading your blog we can tell you are having a lot of fun on your trip.
