Sunset and Moon Rise

Saturday, February 8, 2020

Today dawned before I chose to get out of bed. The sun was up and shining before I had my first cup of coffee and the second one I enjoyed outside in the warmth of the sun. Tom not only made the coffee today but he also cooked bacon and eggs for a late breakfast or early lunch either description works. Today is going to be a lazy, nothing really planned sort of day. At some point I took my tea and crocheting outside and enjoyed the sun. Tom went off for a while in search of firewood and came back with a nice amount. .That is about as exciting as the day got except for when an ice cream van drove by music and all. Pretty sure they are camping farther out in it and not selling ice cream. We watched and waved and then thought a picture would have been a good idea for proof we are not losing it out here in the sun.

The firewood Tom went and collected and way off in
the distance I can see a train.

I decided to change out my lens for my zoom

and the next train that went by I was able to capture.

When I said it was going to be a "lazy, nothing really planned" day I meant it. The following pictures were mostly taken sitting in my chair with my feet up on our patio. Though, I was crocheting most of the time...:)

This picture is about my love of the Ocotillos.

Even though we are in California we have stayed on
Arizona Time. Took this first picture at 5:55 PM .

I am of the opinion that all desert sunsets are beautiful

No enhancement it  is what the dunes looked like with
what looked like a lot of dust hanging around.

It is amazing to watch just how quickly

the sun slips from view.

It is gone.
Yet we sat out for another 40 minutes and the orange glow
still filled the western horizon when we went inside.

What it really looked like

what it looked like using my camera's Photo Illustration Effect.

Should have gotten up form my chari earlier I missed
the moon coming up over the Cargo Muchacho Mountains.

It was already up a ways, as you can see, when I noticed.

Not many clouds  in the sky this evening but  the
few that were there took on a lovely light pink color.

It is now 6:52 PM and the orange glow is still visible.

One last shot using my Photo Illustration effect
and it was time to go in.

It was a wonderfully quiet, lazy, do nothing day and I enjoyed every moment of it.

We are glad you stopped by!
If you have time to leave a comment we would enjoy hearing from you.

  2. I have enjoyed your posts, even though I haven't been commenting. You are always so relaxed and calm. I always find your posts are calming. You are in one of our favourite areas, as you know, and I can never get enough of the sunsets and sunrises there. Always so different. Have Jeep, find the Ice Cream Truck. Haha. Good luck at the dentist tomorrow Tom. I see nothing wrong with sitting in a chair and doing exactly what you want to do. Keep enjoying the Ocotillo there.

    1. Thank you, Deb, for the very nice compliment. I would agree about the sunsets. Need to get up in time for a sunrise...lol
Tom and I just may go look for the Ice Cream truck, though it did go back towards the mountains, maybe it was a ghost...:)
In the meantime I will be sitting in a chair enjoying those Ocotillos.

We heard what I though was a Bluebird from Q but Kim and Ken said it sounded like the ice cream truck!

  6. Love the sunrise and sunset pictures especially with the Ocotillos! Perfect. It would be interesting to know if the ice cream truck actually had ice cream to sell? Beautiful area you are in for sure! When does your sister come in?

Now that we know they heard it over at Pilot Knob we are wondering the same thing, maybe we could have had ice cream...lol
