A Cloud Watching Sort of Day

February 27, 2018

I cannot believe it either but I am actually posting a blog on the day it happened.

A couple of days ago Tom and I were talking about our plans for the next week and all we were trying to cram into it. I told him I was feeling overwhelmed and was not looking forward to most of it. I just wanted to sit back and relax and not feel like we have to go here and we have to go there. This is the first time in four years I have felt like this and I am thinking it is because we started this year's adventure later then we planned and now we were trying to do to much. So after some discussion we changed some plans around, kept some others, and are going to breath.

Tom is a Navy Veteran which allows us to stay at the American Legion Club here in Borrego Springs for a very reasonable rate. So we moved over here on Sunday and will be here until Thursday morning. We are dry camping here tucked in by the Tamarisks Trees and it is the quietest place we have ever been at. Thank you, Al, Travel With The Bayfield Bunch  and Doug, Miss Adventure Travels for sharing the information about this place.

Today's plan was to not do anything. Just hang out at the Stinger "B" and do whatever. I had said I was not even going to pick up my camera today. Well, that idea lasted until about 8 AM when I looked out the window and saw the clouds on the mountains. There was rain predicted for today which did not happen though with the wind blowing strong most of the day the clouds kept rolling by.  The only thing that would have made today more enjoyable is if it had been warm enough to set up my chair, sit outside, and enjoy the clouds doing their dance across the sky. That was not meant to be so instead every once and awhile I put on my jacket and made a quick trip outside to click, click, click, click in the different directions.

I am sharing some of those pictures below. I think the they speak for themselves so I will not be adding many more words to this blog.

One more thing, my regularly scheduled catch up posts will return tomorrow...:)

The Stinger "B" tucked in nose first.
Under lovely blue skies and fluffy white clouds.

Yes, that little white dot is the moon.
The only picture I took today that did not include a cloud.

The last of today's sun light.

It was a quiet do nothing sort of day. The type to just slowly enjoy.
Hope you had a wonderful day.
If you would like to leave a comment we would enjoy hearing from you.

    1. We never did get the rain but the wind did keep the clouds moving across the sky.

  3. You have a lovely spot there, I remember Al's picture in a similar beautiful spot. "our friends guide us" in this lifestyle especially.
I'm happy to hear you are rethinking the go go go plans. We all need to take the time to reflect on what is ahead and how much do we have to do now. We don't want to put things off too long because we all have sad stories of friends and family, but we also need to enjoy the moment just like your plaque says at the bottom of your post. Enjoy the down time Deb and Tom.

    1. Yes, having Al and Kelly find this place and share it with the rest of us was so great.
Neither one of us knows how we got to the point of trying to plan so much in to our time frame. It is the first time we did that and it was actually making me anxious. I am glad we talked and did the rethinking. I know what you mean about not wanting to put things of for to long and why. Yet at the same time we need to enjoy the journey it is a balancing game sometime. The four days we spent here has been nice.

  4. What a great post! That is a great place for you guys to be. I know what you mean sometimes you think I need to do this, see this, and then it kinda takes the fun away. Sometimes you just need to regroup and do what really is going to make you happy and it sounds like that's just what you did! Good for you! Enjoy your time there!

    1. We have enjoyed our time here. We still did a few things and enjoyed the time doing them. I am not sure what we were thinking trying to schedule everyday but live and learn as they say.

  5. Glad you've changed your mind from busy, busy, busy to less busy, more fun. Like you I get overwhelmed if I try to do too much too fast and then I don't want to do anything at all. So a little bit is much better, in my humble opinion.

Some great pictures. It's hard not to pick up the camera!

    Enjoy your great spot.

    1. Yes, it is like a weight has been lifted since we had the talk because none of it was sounding like fun.

As soon as I looked out the window and saw the clouds on the mountains I knew I would be hearing click, click all day but it was fun.
