Two Days 309 Miles and We are Parked

(Clicking on the pictures will open them larger in a new window.)

We have stopped at The Quail Ridge RV Resort in Huachuca City, Arizona. Yes, the trek East has begun but very slowly; we will be here for seven nights. We have stopped in this area every year since we started "snowbirding" five years ago. We discovered this park four years ago and if we are in this area and want to be in full hook ups we cannot think of a better place to be. The staff here is always friendly and helpful, plus, the park is always clean. The days will unfold as they will and in seven short days, we know the time will go by fast, we will pack up and turn the Stinger "B" east once again. Until then we will enjoy our time here.

Today's ride started at the Holt Shell Station in Gila Bend, AZ. we merged on to I-8 and continued East. On this route you drive through the Sonoran Desert National Monument and for several miles there are beautiful, stately Saguaros on both sides of the Interstate. Looking out towards the mountains there are Saguaros as far as the eye can see. If you have driven this route you know I am not exaggerating. It is a wonderful way to say good bye to these stately cactus because in not that many miles as you continue east past Tucson they will be gone from sight.

So fair warning there are pictures, lots of pictures, of Saguaros in this post. I used my zoom lens today something I have never done before while we are moving down the road. I have taken pictures along here several times and I thought it would give us a different view/memory of the drive.

First, though, pictures for my grandchildren the dinosaurs at the Holt Shell Station.

It has always been about the dinosaurs

I do not remember ever taking a picture of the Gas Station before

or these two metal sculptures.

Today's ride in pictures.

On I-8 heading East under beautiful blue skies.

It is hard to see in pictures but the Saguaro go

back as far as we can see.

What looked to be hundreds of little Saguaros up the hill.

Getting close to Casa Grande there are farm fields.

I-10 is just ahead.

We are on I-10.

This is when we were glad we were going East.

Picacho Peak.

Beautiful Wildflowers
Pretty sure these are the reason so many bugs met there end on our
windshield. If you see spots in the pictures this is the reason why.

Definitely looks like snow on the mountain top.

Dust Devil out in a field..

Taking pictures of all the Saguaros I see.
I know soon there will be no more in our view.

Arizona knows how to decorate over passes and Interstate entrances and exits.

Spotted two more.

Saguaro and an Ocotillo!
Today's just because I thought it was interesting.

Not the best picture but these were the last Saguaros I saw today.

The landscape out the window is changing.

The first time I saw one of these Century Plants in the distance
I thought there were birds sitting on the branches.

Our turn, Exit 302 and we will be on AZ-90

We can see snow on the mountains ahead.

With a right turn on to AZ-82 we are home for the next seven nights.

As I mentioned, I am guessing you know by now I told the truth, at the beginning there would be lots of pictures. I started with over 300 and ended with 101, I could be one or two off.  If you got this far thanks for joining us. There is nothing about this ride from Gila Bend to Huachuca City that is not enjoyable, well maybe except for the traffic and construction necessary evils to get to the destination, it is all a wonderful view out the window.

Our wish is that you are enjoying your journey as much as we are enjoying ours!

We are glad you stopped by and hope you enjoyed the pictures.
If you have time to leave a comment we would enjoy hearing from you
