Looking out towards the mountains North of Plomosa Road as we headed west to visit friends. |
Today was another special day in our lives. Friends, Melissa and Lyle, invited us to their home on Plomosa Road for dinner and to celebrate our anniversary. She served a wonderful garlic butter chicken dish on top of yellow rice along with vegetables and pita bread. (I hope I am correctly remembering what she said it was; I do know it was delicious and she is loving her Instant Pot. The chicken was moist and fork tender.) Then for dessert out came cheesecake topped with berries and champagne. All I can say is yum! Plus, a beautiful card to add to our memory box.
It is amazing all the wonderful people we have met since we started living this lifestyle. When we think of Melissa and Lyle our only thought is special friends! |
So I carried my phone out of the car and insisted we take a picture right away so I would not forget. I knew once we started visiting all thoughts of pictures would be gone. Next time I need to remember to not face us into the sun.

It was late when we got back home last night and after midnight when we finally went to bed. So there was sleeping in this morning and the sun beat us up today. Once we started our day we drank our coffee while reading blogs, and replying to all the lovely Happy Anniversary wishes. A very pleasant way to spend a morning.
Then Tom was off to get rid of garbage, fill up the water bladder, and buy ice. Yes, after feeling really good about the phone call on Monday and being told that Norcold would be coming through and replacing our refrigerator we have heard nothing else. Even though we and RV Lifestyles here in Quartzsite have called several times during the week there was no authorization to replace the refrigerator. There was not even a return of the phone calls. I will end this here because for now it is enough said about the situation.
Here in Quartzsite Sunday Mass is a 4:00PM so around 3:30 we headed over towards the Catholic Church. Though we could hear and feel the wind most of the day by the time we arrived back home around 5:00PM it had calmed down.
As I type this up and think about today I would describe it as an ordinary day yet in so many ways a good one.
Pulled over on Riggles Avenue to catch the Sunset tonight. |
A slight bit of light left on the mountains when we got home. |
Once the sun goes down it does not take long for the darkness to engulf us. Unless, we are experiencing a full or close to full moon which adds quite a bit of light. It is so strange how black it really is and the quiet that comes with the darkness is so peaceful. Once and awhile we do here coyotes in the distance but somehow that does not even disturb the silence that night brings out here. It is a different world and we do love it.
We are so glad you stopped by!
If you have time to leave a comment we would enjoy hearing from you.
It really is amazing how many people you meet and befriend along the way. Again, congratulations on 50 years!!! The neatest thing about it being dark is you can really see the stars!
ReplyDeleteThank you again for the Anniversary wish.
DeleteSo true the dark of the desert does make the stars shine brighter.
The Lifetime Friends you meet through the Fulltime Lifestyle is unbelievable.
ReplyDeleteAs Nancy says without the light pollution the Stars are so beautiful to look at Whether the Moon is out or not.

ReplyDeleteI'm not fond of the dark but I do like the starry sky because of it. LOL
It is was nice to celebrate our anniversary with special friends. The starry sky is the reward for stepping into the darkness.
