We decided yesterday to take a ride into Avondale and do some shopping. Our Daughter-in-law and Son bought us a Costco Membership for Christmas last year and we wanted to do some stocking up. We had hoped to wait until we had a working refrigerator but since that is not happening very quickly we decided to at least pick up some non perishables that we needed. We had other shopping to do and some of it needs to be mailed back to Michigan for Christmas so we did not want to put if off any longer. I want to put the boxes in the mail Friday.
As you can see there is only one picture and that is because it is the only one I took today. We have taken this ride more then once over the years and today I just decided to enjoy the scenery. When you first leave Quartzsite heading east the views of the mountains are beautiful and those views pretty much continue for most of the ride. We could see a lot of green crawling up the mountains and much of the floor of the desert looked like it was covered in a green carpet. Plus, there were areas of yellow wild flowers along the edge of I-10.
Coming home between Goodyear and Buckeye the sun was setting and the afterglow was a beautiful golden and orange colors in the sky.
I always love driving over the hill and seeing the lights of Quartzsite in the distance. The headlights and tail lights look like ribbons of white and red blinking in the night. Just past Quartzsite it looks like those ribbons of light go right up into the sky. We turned left and drove south out to Roadrunner BLM and took the road back until we spotted the Saguaro on the edge of the road in the headlights. Then we turned left and there was the Stinger "B" patiently waiting for us.
So that was our day. Sort of long and a little tiring with all the shopping but we accomplished what we set out to do so it was a good day.

We are glad you stopped by!
If you have time to leave a comment we would enjoy hearing from you.
I love Costco, but always seem to come home with about $300 worth of stuff in two little boxes. I sure hope your fridge is working again soon.
ReplyDeleteWe have the same problem shopping at Costco the bill at the end. I have to remind myself it will last several months. I wish they would sell somethings individually because today we now have to find a place to store that stuff I thought we needed...LOL
DeleteGlad you Enjoyed your Shopping Trip. Surprised that Yuma doesn't have a Costco. With so little time before Christmas I hope your packages are delivered on time.
ReplyDeleteLove seeing the Night Lights on I-10 near Quartzsite.
Be Safe!
It's about time.
We were surprised, also, to find out there was not a Costco in Yuma. There a several in the Phoenix area and the Tucson area but nothing in Yuma.
DeleteI hope the post office gets the packages there in time, also.
It will be ice to have a working frig again. Do you have an install date? I bet that was quite the drive to Avondale but glad you got things done! :)
ReplyDeleteIt is a couple of hours to Avondale but the scenery is lovely and most of where I like to shop is fairly close in proximity to each other so that is nice.
DeleteI am beginning to believe telling us they would be replacing our fridge and then actually doing it are two different things.
It was a good day to accomplish some of what you needed to do. It is always nice to see our homes waiting for us out in the desert. :)
ReplyDeleteSeeing our home at the end of a long day was nice.
DeleteNow I need to find a place to store all that accomplishment...LOL
Enjoyable days journey and you got some things accomplished. I bet you'll be glad to have a working fridge again. Very inconvenient.
ReplyDeleteGlad does not even begin to describe how we will feel to finally have a working fridge. I wish Norcold understood how inconvenient this is.
DeleteYesterday was an enjoyable day.
Did you ever think there would be a point in your life where home was a left at the Saguaro :-)
ReplyDeleteNot in a million years...:) but how wonderful that it did happen.
