Parked 17 Miles West of Tombstone, AZ

February 3, 2017

We are presently parked at Quail Ridge RV Resort near Huachuca City, AZ. We stayed here once before in November of 2015; it is pretty much a gravel parking lot but it is a clean one. Everyone is friendly and helpful plus the price, $13.00 plus tax per night for full hook ups, is really to our liking. We had planned on stopping in Benson until Monday when we will be heading over for an 8:30AM appointment at Lazyday's in Tucson. When that did not work out we remembered this park, gave them a call, we were lucky enough to get one of their last openings for the weekend, and it will only be an extra 18 miles Monday morning. This area was not on our itinerary this year but we are not unhappy we ended up here.  We will have the opportunity to visit Tombstone, one of Tom's favorite stops, and I really would like to visit the Our Lady of The Sierras Shrine. When I read on the Travel with the Bayfield Bunch Blog they had paid the shrine a visit I filed it away as a stop to make next time we came this way. So now that opportunity has presented itself.

Our Travel Days:

January 30, 2017

After spending three nights at the North Llano River RV Park & Resort in Junction, TX we filled up with fuel at the Pilot and pulled out onto I-10. We are continuing our trek West. We ended the days drive, after about 200 miles, at the Walmart in Ft. Stockton, TX with at least 12 other RV's. This was our second time spending the night here and it seems to be a very popular stop. Last time we counted over 20 RV's in the parking lot.

This morning we left Ft. Stockton behind as we continue our trek west.  Not to many miles down the road we encountered crosswinds that continued for about a hundred miles or so. During the rest of the day crosswinds would hit every once and awhile for a few miles.  Though Tom said nothing as bad as in the morning. Even so we ended up putting about 339 miles behind us and spending the night at a Walmart in Deming, NM.. This was about 100 more miles then we had planned. Originally we thought we would stop just past the border in New Mexico, then we decided on Las Cruces. When we got close to Las Cruces Tom suggested we keep going. Since, he is the one doing the driving I feel on days we are just putting miles behind us when we stop for the day should be his decision.

We left Deming, NM around 8:30 Wednesday morning knowing or next stop would be for 5 nights. After putting over 2016 miles behind us it is time to relax for awhile. It has been an "adventure" and we have found a couple of things that need attention on the Stinger B. So our next stop, as mentioned above, will be at Lazydays in Tucson. Our pump is not working, and our windshield wipers are getting stuck on the driver's side in the wind. Plus, Tom has some questions about how a couple of other things work. After this stop we should be ready to boondock in the desert and this something we are looking forward too.

The mountain views ahead of us are gorgeous.
(These pictures do not even begin to do the view justice.)

Trains heading East on our right this morning.
I had mentioned to Tom we missed the Continental Divide sign
and then there it was in one of the pictures I took of the trains.
Even though we never saw it I did get a picture.

We crossed into Arizona around 10:30 Wednesday morning.

If we are traveling west past Wilcox, AZ on I-10 we are stopping for a
slice of apple pie at Apple Annie's Country Store.
So lunch today was apple pie.

We hope to never see this sign flashing.
So far so good.

Passing by the rest area in the Texas Canyon.
We decided not to stop this time.
This is awesome to see in person and I do not think we will ever
tire of the sight of these boulders as we pass through.

Trucks and RV's passing us.
Everyone seems to be in a hurry except for us.
Our philosophy we will get there when we get there.

Traffic going East on I-10.
We even saw a tiny house traveling down the road.

More random shots of the day's drive.

Then turning south onto Arizona 90 and we are almost to our new "yard".

February 2, 2013

We were in need of a few things so I took the Jeep and drove over to Sierra Vista to do some shopping. Tom stayed back to spruce up the Stinger B. We now have a much cleaner living room rug and the outside front of the Stinger B has been de-bugged.

    1. Thank you. We do like this area. I would be surprised if we do not stop here once a year either coming west or going east.
